They had to pay someone to play the other 20 minutes that Crooks can't play.

To anyone out there that knows of another site affiliated to Iowa sports this one is insufferable anymore. Can’t stay on topic, name calling, it’s getting worse. Appreciate any info.
Completely Agree. This is like middle school cheerleading competition and high school girls fighting for the most popular girl in school and being in a clique. Read 10 posts and one or two might be relevant. Could make a movie on this just line Grumpy Old Men.

It's sad really, On the previous site while not perfect the discussion overall was much more civilized and had less trolls and instigators who simply want to try ro get under other posters skin. It really isn't hard to make your point without having to be an ******* while doing so.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming -

1. How did the Faison visit go?
2. Any updates on Raegan McCowan? Any other schools offer her?
McCowan pursuit appears to be done and over with. The Georgia kid I thought might be wrapped up by now or very soon. Word is there is a shooting guard from one of the Florida schools interested, but intel says it could come down to Iowa and another Big10 school. Lastly, Iowa could take another big, from mid major ranks, who would be more in line with a spot, say 9-10 or higher on the depth chart.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if McCowan came to Iowa after her post-visit post.

I have seen people on here months ago asking people to not call Chit Chat, CC.

Since Chit Chat seemed too long for this person to type out or they wouldn't have been typing CC, I suggested the shortened version of Chat--which if you've watched MANY interviews with Jan and the team is what they often call her. So yeah it is 100% accurate that Chit Chat also goes by Chat.

It wasn't trying to be rude. I was trying to give them the alternate nickname that the team and Jan used for her which is Chat and is shorter.

Again, all I was trying to do was NOT have someone call her CC--which a multitude of people have also requested on this site over the last year. And giving them the 4 character shortest nickname.

There's no need for name calling.

I said before I thought the odds would be long, and personally think she would be better off going elsewhere but it still seemed Iowa had an offer out. My personal opinion is she would always think something is better even if she came for a year.

If Iowa still wants to recruit high-end high school talent (and I believe they do), they need to look at extended budgets. Not sure everyone on the various boards considers that balance. If they are going to stay in the hunt for some of these '27 players, they are going to be fairly frugal with what they are offering a deep bench. It will probably have to sort itself out as options dwindle for the players. Weeks?

Apologies. Too many people come off as pretentious a**holes and it's hard to read tone through a post (that's my bad, don't assume and such) Also I'm used to seeing a certain Anon poster be a holier than though persona.

40% of the portal has signed, and most of difference makers are signed. If Iowa cannot secure Faison, which is not a tall task, that begins to lead one to believe that Iowa is an acquired taste and not a serious destination location.. Minnesota and Illinois may be passing Iowa. People can talk fan support, sellouts, Caitlin and final 4 all you want, its not translating right now, MW has to rebound like Hannah, Carnagie may become the next Lucy, Whiting is the new Feuerbach, McCabe has not been replaced, and Levin / Mallegni could have provided bench roles as good or better than what we will bring in late mid-late May. Who is the next Affolter? The bench is leaving.

Lucy a success, Molly a good add. Chat came with the assistant as did Carnagie. Rodriguez a big bust. Top HS recruits went elsewhere.

There is something going on here for a team finishing 2nd in the BIG, great fan support, but the fish aren't biting.

What the post say?

Nothing really wrong with the post except from an Iowa perspective; this came out a few days after her visit here. Kinda like going on a date and thinking everything went really well, only to have your date put up a post on her Facebook page 2 days later saying she's looking for a boyfriend.

Yout top 8 is filled. Tennessee has 11 but the sold its wide open and we play 10 players. this comes down to money first. There is still plenty of options to fill the 9-11 spots.

A lot of portal players aren't willing to accept bench roles, and subsequently will be finding themselves without homes come fall.

The top 8, who will play 99% of the meaningful minutes is already much better than the top 8 that started this past year and came in second in the Big10. Carnegie, Stremlow, and Whiting blow away what Iowa had in KF, McCabe, and Deal. Worst case scenario today is McKenna and Journey at the 4 which I think will still end up as a net positive overall.

You're also forgetting how young this core was already. Ava, CCW, Journey, Stremlow, and Layla all played a lot of minutes and all have 2-3 years left along with Carnegie. Add in McKenna W and this team looks pretty well set for the next 2 years. There just isn't a lot of room and transfers see that and the highly rated ones don't want to come off the bench and you're not paying someone top dollar to come off the bench.

It's a good core, no doubt, but betting 100% that no injuries will happen is totally unrealistic. Last season, six players were injured. We hope these eight players on our shortlist will all be healthy, but we have to be prepared for the "what if..." scenario in every position, which is why depth is important. Besides injuries, there are other situations we need to be prepared for and have options on the bench to solve. Players aren't always having a good day, or one or more might to made five fouls, and that could happen in a crucial R32 game again. In those moments, we need good options to come off the bench and decide a match. It can also happen that someone underperforms (Deal and Rodriguez), and we don't have the option of signing during the season. For all these reasons, depth with quality is very important. And there's no reason for a top 10 money team like Iowa to take that kind of risk. That's ok? ;)

You're not getting many "likes" to this post from the sunshine pumpers!

But it's a very objective POV.😁

If I wanted friends i would join Facebook. Its my opinion after the Rodriquez mess, being shunned on numerous HS recruits, having 3 decent bench players leave, getting a second player that Barrett brought in, hoping for a 3rd, and sitting here with a roster of 8 while 99 of the top 100 portal targets go elsewhere. Even the Taylor girl from NW went to Minnie. Would have fit well here.

Oh, I agree 100%, just saying that the vast majority of fans that are on this forum refuse to accept valid criticism of Jensen.
And after we saw Hays regress once the B1G season started last year, I don't think you can expect much from her unless she gets in better physical shape and vastly improves FT shooting.
Basically, only seven B1G level players as it sits right now.

As JJ and her staff continue to sift through portal options, here are five women who might fit the 9,10,11 roles on the bench. I would hope that each might be thrilled with an upgrade to Iowa. All are listed as forwards.

Berynn Carlson 6'3' Mount Saint Mary's
Oralye Kiefer 6'3" Merrimack
Liliana Harrison 6'2" Delaware State
Clemisha Prackett 6'1" Indiana State
Milana Nenadic 6'3" Valpariso

What if our 9th and 10th players are Hannah Stuelke and Taylor McCabe?

don't know how the 5 yrs to play 5 yrs shakes out here next month, but could that be a possibility?

An interesting option for a 9th player. She's a 6-0 player, strong, fast, easy to create space and go to layup, can be played at the 3 or 4. And 7.2 PPG at 14 MPG is a good production. By the way 7.2 PPG was exactly what Chit Chat was doing at this same Georgia Tech. Good sign. And we can explore our connection with Georgia a little more.

I'll say it again. The top 8 players are going to play 95% of the minutes like they do on pretty much every team. They signed 2 excellent players from the portal already that will be part of that rotation. I agree with you that they still need a few depth pieces. They're going to sign a few more players, but the players they get going forward aren't going to be nearly as important as those first 8 and according to sources there are still over 1,000 players looking for a home. I don't know that Iowa is a top 10 money team, but they will for sure be a top 10 preseason team, likely in the top 8.
