OT: Socks or Pants First when getting dressed?

The ladies at work have started a debate. I'm trying to find out if I'm the odd ball or if everyone else is just uncivilized. I think gender might have something to do with this as well. Small business; I'm outnumbered 3:1.

In my world it all depends. If I am wearing regular trousers and calf length socks, the style from the last number of years being narrow leg trousers, mandates socks first. If I am wearing athletic pants, shorts, and/or no-shows or ankle length socks it really does not matter and if just depends on which one I get to first or other circumstances.

This thread reminds me of a running gag on All in the Family where Archie would debate the meathead on the right way to do mundane tasks.

One was about the proper way to put on socks and shoes, another one about the right way to eat a meat-and-three meal, then one about the correct way to get into bed. Hilarious, especially the scene debating on how to get into bed where Arch explained the merits of leaving a flap to fan when you cut the cheese.

I prefer socks then pants, but I dress in the bathroom and sometimes the floors are wet - there's nothing worse than wet socks - so I end up putting my socks and shoes on later. I'm fortunately able to wear shorts to work when it's warm. In that case, it shorts then socks.

Get dressed in the bathroom and start with the essentials. When wearing pants, the socks got to go on first, cause this fat arse ain't (can't be) bending over in jeans to fight on socks. (I've seen yall's discussions on food, cholesterol, and just being fat so most of yall got to be the same way).
After the jeans get loosened up, maybe, but not after just getting them on. Always go socks first with shorts, just out of habit because I wear jeans more often.

I mostly wear athletic shorts and shirts and almost never wear long pants. I will put on socks first if I’m wearing joggers and my foot is going to get caught. Put on socks first if I’m wearing long socks/dressed up, but that’s only 1-2 times per year

Amen. Had to go to a wedding last weekend and had to go buy socks. Wife said the three pair of footies that I wear with my golf shoes weren’t appropriate. I mean one pair was black. On a different but similar subject, Footjoy makes golf sandals. Great traction and lets the dogs breathe.

You have solved my question. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why anyone would put on socks before pants. I'm 5'11 175 or so. I always put socks on very last. I guess I'm not as abdominally endowed as the average sixpacker.
