Addressing the situation of visitors where they don't belong

I sure did get sick of seeing these corndogs sitting in the Triple Crown Club. I don't know what to do about the rigs in the outfield, but I think that that anyone wearing opposing teams colors / logos shouldn't be allowed in the Triple Crown Club area. They should have the option of either purchasing some State clothing that's sold in the stadium or wearing a nice thick humid maroon poncho over the offending clothing furnished free of charge. I'm sure this could be added to some fine print somewhere... And to the person that sold these bozos their tickets - go take a long walk on a short pier.

Pretty simple. Yank ticket buying privileges to people who sell to opposing fans. There’s a couple of Triple Crown Club tickets & an outfield spot that just came open for the rest of this season & the future.

I can’t speak for the LSU party in the LFL which I fully agree was ridiculous, but my bet for the grandstand seats is that 75% of them weren’t sold to LSU fans. They just sat down in them until someone forced them to move.

There is no way the ones right behind home were squatters. They were in those seats every game. Fan allegiance is one thing but money talks.

I don't get season football tickets anymore, but when I did Congressman Michael Guest had about six seats behind me. I never saw him at a game. However, he did let LSU fans use his tickets. Those were not the cheap seats either. I sat there to keep from being around opposing fans. I did send him an email about my disgust.

I agree with this for the most part, but it just looks bad to have opposing fans sitting in arguably the best seats in the house.

I dont understand the angst over visiting fans in the stadium. As long as they dont interfere with your enjoyment of the game, what's the issue? And I really dont care what anyone wears to the game...if someone wants to wear visiting colors then at least you know not to high five them when something awesome happens.

This is Mississippi....The "hospitality state". Maybe we can live up to that and welcome our visitors?

If they are overly obnoxious, thats one thing, but otherwise just let them enjoy themselves.

If its an issue of it being a "bad look" for opposing fans to have premium seats, then maybe our own fans should support the team more?

We could adopt a ticket policy forbidding wearing opposing colors in certain seats. That would pretty much make us a laughing stock, and would cause me to go out and buy shirts in the color of every visiting team to wear to the games.

LSU has nothing similar LFL and wealthy fans who throw money around. I’d really like to know what they paid for the lounge this weekend compared to what some of our fans think it’s worth.

I don't want to stop anyone from buying the tickets. But you just can't wear the opposing team's colors or logos if you want to watch the game from down there. Like I said put that in the small print for the triple crown club tickets and post it on a sign at the entry point. There are people at the triple crown entry point that check your tickets before you are allowed in. They could just make sure this is understood as a condition of entry before handing them their complimentary maroon poncho and letting them in. They can then decide if they want to be miserably hot the entire game or go back up to purchase some MSU gear. It's a win/win situation.

I think Nebraska football revokes the tickets of any season ticket holder who allows people wearing opposing colors in their seats. It is a condition of ticket sales.

The "not obnoxious" part is most important to me. For example, there were 2 groups of Memphis fans in the club level at the Hump back in December. One was a father and son - they were pleasant, self-depricating, and non-intrusive. No one asked if those were their seats because they weren't bothering anyone.

The other group was 4 or 5 asshats in blue, being loud, aggressive and super annoying anytime Memphis State scored or a foul was called. Consequently, some good Bulldogs kindly requested that their tickets be checked and sure enough - squatters. There were escorted out with the quickness to the sounds of many jeers and laughter.

I've been in plenty of soccer stadiums around the world where there are certain sections that supporters in the opposing team's colors are not allowed to sit/stand/watch from usually it's the supporters section. Granted this is much more out of safety for both sides, but still. Hell, even MLS and USL clubs in this country do this. It really isn't hard to implement this for the triple crown club, if the University wanted to.

I usually ask if its okay for me to wear MSU gear, and uts usually fine. If im just going on my own, sometimes I wear neutral colors just to avoid causing trouble.

Back.in 1992, I was invited to sit in the Texas faculty section for our game in Austin. I asked if I could wear MSU gear in the faculty section and was told it was fine as long as I didnt mind the verbal abuse from the adjacent student section.

Then I asked if I could bring my cowbell, and I got the same thumbs up (I no longer take my bell to away games, but back then I would sneak it in and take pics). I promised I would only ring it when the team took the field, and anytime we scored.

We scored on our first two possessions. So I rang it at the beginning of the game, then twice more pretty quickly, and at a point when the UTx fans were not feeling so great.

I was pretty much hated at that point. An usher checked my ticket, and made me throw out my liquor.

The fourth time I rang my bell, the clapper sheared off...causing a great ovation in the sections around me. At that point I just sat back and enjoyed the victory.

AFAIK, that was the last time I was the obnoxious visiting fan, and it wasn't intentional. But when there was the time I wore a Rockets jersey to game 2 of the NBA finals in Orlando....

At least at UK you can easily find Wildcat fans eager to buy your tickets, which isnt always the case at State.

I do have a question, though? Is it okay for a UK season ticket holder to bring a visiting fan with them to the game? If someone marries a Louisville fan do they just forfeit their tickets on the spot?

I wasn't in a friend's seat, but I did sit on the 50-yard line on the home side in Oxford during the 2018 egg bowl. I wore a charcoal State sweatshirt with a grey zipped up jacket. My son and I kept to ourselves and weren't obvious with any reactions to the game. We just sat there and very much enjoyed the game. Although I shouldn't have been, I was slightly surprised at the venom aimed at Nick Fitzgerald. More than one person was heard to wish him another broken leg.

Not everywhere has such obviously premium seating like those big nice triple crown seats. Most SEC stadiums appear to be grandstands that go all the way to the backstop. If the seats are any different than the rest of the grandstands, you can't tell it on TV.

For MSU baseball, finding MSU fans to buy your tickets shouldn't be a problem. And no, it's not a First Amendment issue or even close. The University has every right to refuse to sell to people who turn premium spots over to opposing fans.
