No threat of running plays but the QBs did not have a good day yesterday.

The video I saw and the stats from HawkCentral didnt seem very strong from the QBs. I know several top receivers were out so I hope that made a big difference.

Receivers werent very open. I did like Heck being able to hit a 2nd or 3rd read multiple times for completions over the middle.

I guess this is where the team is at right now.

As many have posted it’s just a spring, however I see what you’re saying but I wouldn’t put too much worry on these guys as I think all will be ready to go come fall time. I hope they all stay in IC this summer and work together on their free time… but great post!

Lots of full pressure from defense. Lack of running lanes. QBs had zero time. Heck improvised better and DID go through his progressions pretty quick. Our defense MAY be much better than anticipated as well. Then again, they stayed very vanilla in their approach on offense with key WRs out.

Well everyone on this forum wants a Big Championship, CFP appearance etc but we do not have a Mendoza at QB or an equal to the Oregon QB, and any number of the top 10 QBs like out at USC and UCLA. I hope one of our QBs takes some great steps and becomes a top 10 QB.

Considering what Phil Parker has done with our defense and for Iowa football in general:

We've never needed a top ten QB or anything close to "a Mendoza" to take the next step. Nobody has the expectation we have or get "a Mendoza" but it's not asking a lot to - at some point - expect a passer / passing game to be average or [god forbid] above average.

I understand that our passing yards / game ranking will probably never be real good as we really like to run the football (And the defense gives us short fields) but to be ranked 120th in yards per completion and only 12 passing touchdowns is a serious problem. It's almost like you have to deliberately try to be that bad consistently as we have.

If we had a top 20 offense in 2021, '22. '23 and the last two years we might have two Natty's. Again, I hope our QBs play lights out.

Was hoping to hear moe positieve things about the offense, especially qb, but Iowa's spring "game" has been pretty vanillia for many years. Probably won't really know anything until people "observe" some things in fall practie or the first three games.

Good thing we have healthy QB's in spring practice again so that we can complain about them. That was a long 3 years off.

FIFY. Thank God eyes is on top of common English usage.
