Gimme some context so I can be properly outraged.
This looks like a bunch of college people on a street in the Cotton District at night...so I am missing something, since that doesn't seem worthy of conversation.
A trend across the country... here's one in your lane...Gimme some context so I can be properly outraged.

I don’t know that a $10 cover fixes it. Probably helps some but needs to be $25 or $30 with some vouchers to a bar or restaurant in the area for that night. That’s probably not logistically doable. Maybe make it $25 unless you have a studentbut then you probably also chase off patrons the business owners do want.Yeah I was wondering when someone would get shot or a huge fight. My daughter says it's been like this for a while now.
These type crowds (people just loitering with no intent of going in businesses) has been going on on for a few summers all over the country. Tuscaloosa had issues a few weeks ago. Iowa City, IA... all over the country.
Starkville needs to do what Memphis did with Beale st. Barricade University after 7pm on Friday and Saturday and charge $10 to enter.
I don’t think that tweet was arrogant or ivory tower ish, but it does make one wonder if she knows the mayor? If it’s not the job of the mayor and police department to keep that area nice and safe, whose job is it?Spruills tweets today are arrogant and ivory towerish. Highly unprofessional.
Starkville is a weak mayor system so the board of alderman are just as responsible as she is. She’s basically another alderman at largeI don’t think that tweet was arrogant or ivory tower ish, but it does make one wonder if she knows the mayor? ETA: I’m an idiot and thought that was her. Tweet.

Among any group of college students predominantly hanging out on the street is bad. Most of these people aren’t even going into bars.Gimme some context so I can be properly outraged.

She could easily get the police on this without any issue with the board. But she won’t do it unless forced to.Starkville is a weak mayor system so the board of alderman are just as responsible as she is. She’s basically another alderman at large
Here is your context - a gathering of people from a specific demographic with a track record for ruining things for everybody with numbskullery and petty gun violence ruined things for everybody with numbskullery and petty gun violence. You are up to date.Gimme some context so I can be properly outraged.

It's pretty 17ing reasonable for me to ask for context.Somebody got shot. Is that context enough?
Is that enough to warrant some outrage sir?
You knew the context - you knew what happened. Anyone with a 17n brain knows what these groups do whether in a crowded mall, outside a bar, or destroying a neighborhoodIt's pretty 17ing reasonable for me to ask for context.
I had no idea, and the video that is part of the initial post in the thread doesn't show any violence.
As another poster mentioned, something similar happened a week ago at the university one of my kids attends.
So now I have background on the issue. The video is 7seconds of nothing bad happening, but background helps.

and the overwhelming majority in this pick probably aren’t students at msu.
I could also provide some statistics for you but you’d cry racism. You wouldn’t call me a liar though.
also someone was shot.
now G17Urself
When 2 or more are gathered……..FIFY
I didn't know there as a shooting in Starkville. You knew the context - you knew what happened. Anyone with a 17n brain knows what these groups do whether in a crowded mall, outside a bar, or destroying a neighborhood
Yes between uno mas and hobies around 11:50 PMI didn't know there as a shooting in Starkville.
And the 7 second video showed a crowd on a street.
Was the shooting shortly after the video at this gathering?
-Unseal all juvenile crimesCurious what you think the solution should be.
- ban 2 or more people from being in public?
- enact loitering laws on public sidewalks and roads even if nobody's movement is being restricted?
- rope off the area and have the city charge a cover for people to be in a public location?
This is a genuine question.
My city has done some restrictive crowd management in a popular public area with bars because of crowd safety concerns and prior incidents.
I completely understand the concern for ensuring safety in public places.
Just curious what the solution would be for Starkville.
How about just have some cops down there and whoever is acting a fool run off?Curious what you think the solution should be.

Bc the mayor doesn’t see it as a problem bc she’s a bleeding heart dumb liberal.Should’ve been a wake up call after the 2023 Kentucky Homecoming weekend disaster but nothing has been done about it..
So stfu and do some research before making a fool of yourself like ALWAYS.I didn't know there as a shooting in Starkville.
