He seems to me to be almost identical to the foreign guy we just signed, why would he come here?
He’s not.

Mikka plays in attack mode; the guy UK got is a finesse player, even at 6’11”.

On the other hand, Mikka is a risky/crappy personality and likely wouldn’t have been a good fit with Pope. The guy you got may be a nice fellow that will fit in.

The way you worded that sure seems like you just outed yourself as not a UK fan despite the moniker you have chosen.

All signs pointing to Cal and the Hogs
For sure. It's strange, though. Arkansas is probably the worst fit for him. He'd fit better somewhere like Duke, undoubtedly. Maybe he doesn't understand the culture of college basketball. Has Calipari ever coached a successful European player? Even a single one?

Yeah, I don't get the draw here. He just likes to dunk with do defenders in the picture. Try that in the SEC and he's going to get eaten up.
I'm not seeing anything that tells me he's some game changer.
How much of him have you watched? I’m surprised to see some of these opinions and think most of your takes are spot on.

I’ve watched him play like twice, and I get major Kenyon Martin vibes. I do tend to have a bias for super athlete guys tho.

Been said before and it’s no secret; I’m a non-trolling (I hope) IU fan that enjoys your board.

As for Miika? I’ll be more blunt ; he’s a world class talent who has a reputation of being a jerk that can break a locker room. That’s not a good fit for a nice/let’s all get along guy like Pope.

Fair enough then. It was your moniker leading me to think otherwise.

Never mind. He'll fit perfectly in Cal's "system" (the lack thereof), then.

The guy seems like a headache in what appears to already be a headache of a season. If we're going to be a mediocre team, I'd at least like the players to be likable.

Just the highlight videos, I didn't see anything more than wide open dunks.
Also, I'm not a talent evaluator, but in SEC play, I don't get the feeling he would be able to do the things that make him look good.
I'm probably way off, maybe he's far more skilled than I'm thinking.

His personality issues stem from him playing for a coach who he had a plan with. The plan was to play professionally for one year and then return to the states and play for a college team. That coach resigned, and the new coach was pissed that Miikka was only staying that one year, so he's goes on social media and blasts the the man, then the rumor mongers jump on board and continue to spread the rumor that he has a character issue. Every coach at the Hoop Summit, plus the NBA scouts in attendance, said the young man displayed nothing but a great attitude the whole week of practice, and into the game. Those players that played with him, including Abdou Toure, and JJ Andrews, were excited that Cal was recruiting him and wanted him as a team mate. He has a ton of talent, which you'll see up close and personal, IF, he signs with the Hogs.

From what’s been reported on his maturity issues, not sure Pope could coach him even if he got him.

Congratulations. You managed to cherry pick wonderfully. Not going to talk about his basketball IQ being comparable to 13-14 year olds or European coaches saying he’s difficult to work with, which caused many teams to back off his recruitment? Nah, let’s just say he had a coaching change and was nice for one weekend lol. This is a ridiculous post given the reports about this guy. Will be a perfect fit for the pigpen.

And yet both you and I would still love to have him here

I agree 100% unless he comes to Kentucky. If that happens, I will disagree with you 100%!

Miikka has the talent to be an exceptional college player. He is excellent athlete with outstanding quickness and his offensive rebound dunks are crowd pleasers. He has a knack for jumping the passing lanes for a breakaway fast breaks. His has a flare for the big play. Example when he hit 2 straight threes over Jokic when Finland upset Serbia last year. In the Nike hoop festival he measured 7-0 in shoes. I hope UK has a chance.
