You can tell we got the better end of the deal compared to Freeman with Pitino. Pitino is mad that their NIL is spent because he overpaid for the injury ridden forward.
That’s where I stopped my analysis too lolI like this guy better…because he committed to UK.
Yes, exactly ... Babe Ruth ain't worth a damn, if he ain't there !!!N'Diaye chose us, **** Freeman lol
N'Diaye might end up being a good player. I really have no idea, but I can’t help but feel like he’s some random dude Pope brought in and people are trying hard to hype him up to make themselves feel better. Hopefully I’m wrong and he’s legit, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
He won’t startSad we have to convince ourselves this guy can start at UK.
More motivated, less likely to tap out emotionally - N-Diaye.Depends:
Freeman has the higher floor, lower ceiling.
N'Diaye has the lower floor, higher ceiling.
I think in a vacuum, Freeman is the better player at this point in time (really not that close). However, N'Diaye can do things Freeman will never be able to learn and he doesn't need a handful of basketball to it. Also, Freeman has injury issues which frankly scared me to death.
N'Diaye, better fit. Worse now, perhaps better later. Give me the upside and the versatility.
The potential issue is that he leaves before UK gets to enjoy that higher ceiling.Depends:

Of course. That's always going to be true. The potential issue is that he leaves before UK gets to enjoy that higher ceiling.
You're right, I forgot how beautiful Noah will be.He won’t start
Huh? Guess this guy can’t play defense at all because the knock on freeman is his defensive effort and intensityFreeman would have been better. Much better defense. Everything else is basically a wash but Freeman did it against better competition.
“The” knock? Freeman has elite defensive ability including crucially switching that he’s demonstrated plenty and that our guys couldn’t find last year with both hands and a flashlight. Hope our euro league beanpole will be the guy who magically starts picking up what Pope’s laying down in that department but I’m not impressed with some blowhard’s views of effort and intensity.Huh? One of N’Diaye’s strengths is his versatility and defensive upside. Has potential to guard 1-5. Freeman isn’t a better defender but Donnie is the much better offensive player at this time. Far more refined than Ousmane. You could pencil Donnie in for about 15-17ppg probably if he was a Cat. 10-11ppg projected for ON according to someone I follow. Can’t remember if was Miya or Ramsey.Freeman would have been better. Much better defense. Everything else is basically a wash but Freeman did it against better competition.
A young big man with foot problems is never a good sign.DId the Freeman drama end up working out better for Kentucky after all? Or was Freeman a better bet, and a tough miss?
N'Diaye is 22, two years older than Freeman, and has spent that time in Italy's top basketball league. N'Diaye is two inches taller and five pounds heavier.
Freeman averaged more points playing in the ACC for a bad team 16.5 to 10.5. .N'Diaye shot a bit better from 3. They averaged about the same number of rebounds, But it is hard to compare stats between a top Euro professional league and a US power conference.
Based on the eye test, after watching all the video of both I can find, I believe N'Diaye has a significantly higher ceilng. It is easy to be fooled by Euro league stats but the way he moves, handles the ball, the energy and athleticism, can't be faked.
Freeman might have been a safer bet to make a seamless transition into playing in the SEC against US college competition.
But he also has a serious history of eventually being injured. That was my biggest worry when he looked Lexington bound.
Bottom line for me: If the goal is a deep run in March, I'd rather roll the dice with a guy who looks like the kind of athlete who might up the tempo for the whole team, and elevate the other players.
I welcome any opposite opinions from the Anons, sincere Kentucky fans or trolls named after TV characters to convince me otherwise.
Big Yeast. (FIFY)This guy is way more athletic and quicker than Freeman and can stretch the floor. He's taller and looks to have a good handle. Freeman won't make it thru the season without injury in the Big least!
Honestly that was my only gripe from the whole debacle. Not mad we didn't get him, mad we wasted time and effort on him in the first place. We could've had Rancik and N'Diaye if Pope wasn't tilting at windmills with FreemanFreeman is a better player but never should've been zeroed in on by Pope. Why would Pope recruit another injury ridden player???? It was insane how Pope went all in for him. So yes freeman is better. He also should never have been recruited
Agreed. I was gunshy from the injury situation the past 2 years running. And injuries period since .... well, forever... but I digress..I'd be happy with either one, but with the injuries we endured the last 2 seasons to key players, I feel better about the guy we have.
What good does getting Freeman do, if his chronic foot problems continue and he's in a boot half the year?
Didn't he miss significant time two years in a row with the same injury? Yeah, I'm good with N'diaye.
Injury on Freeman’s part would be my concern.Freeman was a known commodity, limited in some areas, but the ceiling is higher with O. We will just have to see
The biggest thing to me is when will he arrive at ky??I've seen the words interesting and intriguing, but dang, I'm just excited after watching the highlights. If he picks his shots better I think his 3 pt % will go up. He sure doesn't seem to lack for confidence, he is mobile for a 7', he handles the ball, aggressive, etc.
Plus, it may have just freed up some $$$ for Stokes. I'm happy with N'D.
Agree completely. The Rancik kid seemed like a better choice for Pope's system even if he wasn't better all around. ON seems a better fit than Freeman too. And the injury thing, how were we justifying that?I never understood the recruitment of Freeman. He didn’t seem to fit the type of system that Pope supposedly likes to run. All season we heard about the lack of system fit with some of the players and then Pope goes and recruits a player similar to that of Mo Dioubate.
That "beanpole" is 5 lbs. heavier than Freeman. They are very similar in their lack of bulk.“The” knock? Freeman has elite defensive ability including crucially switching that he’s demonstrated plenty and that our guys couldn’t find last year with both hands and a flashlight. Hope our euro league beanpole will be the guy who magically starts picking up what Pope’s laying down in that department but I’m not impressed with some blowhard’s views of effort and intensity.
wow he must be elite at everything then why isn’t he in the nba? Somebody read the highschool scouting reporting instead of actually watching games.“The” knock? Hope our euro league beanpole will be the guy who magically starts picking up what Pope’s laying down in that department but I’m not impressed with some blowhard’s views of effort and intensity.
True, but isn’t that the same issue with OAD high school recruits - and a bunch of casual fans think they are necessary and crucial to give a team the best chance to win a title. The potential issue is that he leaves before UK gets to enjoy that higher ceiling.
