When was the last time you encountered the UConn fan base? Rutgers has not played UConn in football, men's basketball, or women's basketball in more than a decade.

My experience at the Big East men's basketball championship game last month was both UConn and St. John's fans were super both inside MSG and outside before, during, and after the game.
Good for you and why the hell should it have mattered when I encountered them?! I for one didn’t appreciate those pricks throwing beer cans and shouting at Rutgers fans at their stadium and picking fights with senior citizens at our stadium. Or their women’s fans yelling at Rutgers fans to sit down and be quiet at the friggin RAC. If they changed for the better so be it but my experience if of the fan base being a bunch of barbaric a-holes and I have no reason to change that assessment.

You really think they've changed? Hell, we hadn't played Syracuse in a long, long time and guess what? Many of their fans were still the putrid refuge of humanity.

Temple is already on the slate and we arent playing road games vs FAU or FIU. Could maybe see UCF or USF however.
UCF and USF are far better than what I suggested for home and home.
I should have said FA & FIU home games only , no return trip.

Was Rutgers playing in that Big East Tournament last month?

No

The comments here, including from me, are in regards to Rutgers playing vs UConn either at home or at their crappy airport stadium.
Home: we beat them & their fans went thru our lots ripping off side view mirrors & dumping grills over. Nasty in the stands as well
Away: their fans screeching at RU fans (young, old, very old, holding kids..all the RU fans), throwing FULL water bottles at us, starting fights.

Doesn't matter if it was last week, last month or 10+ years ago. The experience is the experience. Worst fans & away experience.

Sara fans are just as bad as Yukon fans.
During our last visit there { a win} was getting all kinds of insults yelled at me and my #23 jersey. Bunch of miserable pricks.

How would you feel if you lived in CT?

CT is the red headed stepchild of the Northeast. New England doesn't want them, and the NY/NJ/PA part of the Mid-Atlantic doesn't want them. They also probably are the only Northeast state with zero tourism dollars since no one wants to swim in the Long Island Sound in the summer lol

Temple makes much more sense for that reason alone.

We should play Temple every year. Home and home. I don’t understand why that’s not penciled in. Benefits both teams. Even when they beat us it’s viewed more like little brother winning their Super Bowl game like when Marshall beats WVU or something.

I hate everything about the idea of playing UConn. LIU is fine. Better them or Monmouth than Howard or Norfolk in my opinion. I prefer we schedule the local teams.

Temple was always Rutgers's little brother IMO. As a South Jersey kid who works alongside many Temple alums, always respected them unlike other Philly schools cough Nova cough.

Yeah - I see very little downside for us in scheduling them in an annual match up whereas a series with UConn only helps them.

I used to live there. Not sure what you are referring to.
How people treat visitors says a lot about their character.
I have been to many, many away venues for Rutgers football games. On the bottom is Sara and Yukon.

kind of agree with his

LIU is as bad as Howard etc..

I'd prefer the Temple, Monmouth each year plus it's good for NJ
