It’s been said that he was going to Michigan ever since he hit the portal. Maybe was just trying to make it interesting; but I’m fine with this. Maybe Sergio L. is going down to 141 to make room or he he’s battling it out with Cam C. at 157.

Excited to see our future commits battle against him. Israel Borge is gooooooood 👀🔥
He was probably using us like Lockett did, to make the place he wanted to go pony up.

A quick review of the top tiered wrestling program season ticket costs this past season:
  • Iowa $175
  • Ohio State $183
  • PSU $245
  • Okla state $300
Iowa is still significantly cheaper than other programs.
Marketwise that tells me even with tix nearly doubling over the last 5 years it is still a hell of a good deal. However, for the consumer buying them it won’t matter as for many their reference is only the price they paid the last few years. Unfortunately there will be some that are sensitive enough to that price change they will drop season tix.

Here is real ticket price data I could find the receipts for in my email for 5 tickets.

Cost/ticketFeeTotalYearly Increase
21-22$85.00$0.00$425.00
22-23$105.00$10.00$535.0025.88%
23-24$135.00$10.00$685.0028.04%
24-25$159.00$10.00$805.0017.52%
25-26$185.50$10.00$937.5016.46%
That appears to be a pretty good jump, but like most things price always goes up, so assuming the same thing is true with Football or whatever your sport of choice is.

Regardless, the product affects the season ticket amounts more than the price IMO. There is no better place to be than Carver if a top flight team comes in and it's a hotly contested dual.

But when half or more of your lineup can't score 1 takedown in a match, your attendance will absolutely suffer from that. That needs fixed first and foremost. Build it they will come.

I think that’s the problem. How many good home duals are there a season, maybe 2-3? Pretty easy to just grab tickets to those without paying for season tickets

If that were the problem, Carver wouldn't have been sold out or close to it for many of those years that they have been. (and plenty of folks will donate their season ticket seats to others if they don't ultimately go for whatever the reason)

The product across the board has declined, throw in not knowing if the Starters are actually gonna wrestle when you get there and that's a huge recipe for attendance weakening. (Note to Tom Brands, the fans care about such things, even for the duals it matters)

$90 to $175 is a 30% increase?

Again...

Doesn’t help when they jack the prices up 30% every year

Thanks. So not 30% ever year, then? Weird.

The best part is that Slim45RFKJr will view this as evidence he was right. lol

Man, you have got to be the biggest 🤡 on here. Did i not already say i didn’t know the exact %’s? But hey, i guess 28% for 2 years and 17% for the next 2 isn’t that significant. THAT was the whole point, ticket prices have gone up. By a lot. So again, you’re a dumbass

yeah they have gone up a lot. Back when they were less than $500 for my entire family it was a no brainer. Pretty reasonable cost for family entertainment when spread across 5 or 6 outings to carver.

Next year I expect them to cost me over $1000. The $1k mark might be the mental barrier that causes me to give them up.

Rising prices paired with declining product value can only lead to one outcome, more empty seats in the months/years ahead.

It was deja vu for us old-timers;
Ed Banach/Mark Schultz
Terry Brands/Kendall Cross
McIlravy/Marianetti
Metcalf/Caldwell
But I think it hurt even more than they did. I was there live for most of those, and they were heartbreaking.

Some of them get special exemptions for sudden learning disabilities by court order to remain eligible.
Fing Marianetti. I didnt leave my apartment for two days. Damn near broke Gable too.

One of the rare times a Gable coached wrestler was out strategized. Carver was just shellshocked after.
I still remember during the team picture after winning the team championship everyone looking like their dog just died, except for Mcginnis, he was all smiles lol.

And they are $175 for 6 events after all that. Less than $30 per.

SMH over the complaining. NCAA wrestling remains the best deal in sports.

You did. You also said the below, and now for the 3rd time have refused to own up to it. The fact of the matter is it’s been years since there was an increase even close to that. You could have just said “my bad…” but instead you had to make a message board federal case out of it.

Doesn’t help when they jack the prices up 30% every year

Of course ticket prices have gone up. Ever heard of supply and demand? Ever noticed the price of basically everything going up all the time?
