Low 7 figures. How much was he looking for? And what did he get?
Can you estimate the average of what our newly signed guards received?Low 7 figures.
No idea what he got.
Can you divulge?Have no idea. The school would never discuss that info at this time.
Far down the road I'll find out through my sources. But not right now.
One example, I had no idea what Dar got at this time last year. When I found out how much it was about a month ago I was stunned.
You’ll believe anything. Last year you thought that was a flying saucer over East Rutherford. Can you divulge?
To be fair, probably deserves more than low seven figures if he’s stuck living in Starkville for next year!Low 7 figures.
No idea what he got.
Amen to that. Imho it’s a complete waste of time trying to figure out each of these situations. Neither the school nor the player nor the agent is required to disclose it. Everybody makes up their own number and it’s impossible as well as —imho— pointless trying to pin it all down. It’s one grand s**t show and not worth the energy required to figure it out.To quote my inner Seton75, WGAS.
I would love to see these payments disclosed in 990s.He had Gonzaga involved in his recruitment. That gave him leverage.
I thought Holloway did a great job last season. My one gripe all year was not playing Dar more. And I said that not knowing what we paid for his commitment.
You mean the school that 90% of the posters here dismiss as not worthy of being a Big East member?Matas Deniusas to Rhode Island
Out in Elvis countryTo be fair, probably deserves more than low seven figures if he’s stuck living in Starkville for next year!
Another gripe should be not playing Himes more.He had Gonzaga involved in his recruitment. That gave him leverage.

A flop of epic proportions.Another gripe should be not playing Himes more.
Right, and because of it he took less from UConn, flush with money, than we offered. Seems unlikely.A flop of epic proportions.
was he heard from here?Only to be never heard from again - whatever ...
lol. He was actually. Hit a huge three to lock up the win away at Providence and right around that time hit another dagger three to close out another win. Even though he seemed to hit the brick wall down the stretch, he could have taken the next step, but now he will be in an area with no national news cycle, get press only if he has a good game against a top SEC team in a meaningful game. Bad career choice IMO to make short term cash and enrich his agent more than his own pockets long term. If he held out a little longer, SHU would have upped the ante and he could have stayed in an area where he could get some exposure. Just my opinion.was he heard from here?
Did he even really exisht?was he heard from here?
He was our fourth best player, or at least considered that, for part of the year for sure. So there was definitely an oppprtunity for him to return with starter level minutes. Whether he would have gotten “exposure” is an entirely different issue.lol. He was actually. I don’t see what the fascination is to know what players are actually being paid.To quote my inner Seton75, WGAS.
+1000I don’t see what the fascination is to know what players are actually being paid.
As if that would have kept him at SHU?Another gripe should be not playing Himes more.
I think it's just people searching for points of data about what a team actually needs to build a competitive roster, although as we see, it (reportedly) increases every year. But if you know Player A, who you saw for a season and has this much skill, commands X dollars, and you can begin to do this with other players who have left, you then begin to have an accurate perspective on what kinds of players cost how much.I don’t see what the fascination is to know what players are actually being paid.
To gage whether we "lost" said player or did not "get" said player simply because we were outspent, for another reason, or some combination thereof. Personally I don't typically care because I think a myriad of factors play into these decisions, I think the numbers "out there" are often bogus and driven by different agendas, and I think "sources" or "insiders" have different agenda-driven messages they are told to support certain narratives, especially ones that don't make the program or our HC look bad.I don’t see what the fascination is to know what players are actually being paid.
How is it not? We have a budget and it’s interesting to know what the market value is for each kind of player and what we pay them. It’s a regular part of being a fan IMO, which is why salaries are big talk in pro sports. This is pro sports now+1000
This is a simpleton comment. College basketball today is all about the money.I don’t see what the fascination is to know what players are actually being paid.
Was that a sentence?Right, and because of it he took less from UConn, flush with money, than we offered. Seems unlikely.
HahaRight, and because of it he took less from UConn, flush with money, than we offered. Seems unlikely.
We really don’t know any of the budget or player pay numbers. None of it is accurate. This is a simpleton comment. College basketball today is all about the money.
You’re missing the point somehow. We really don’t know any of the budget or player pay numbers. None of it is accurate.
It only matters who is on the roster and how they play. Am I going to root differently for a player if they make $200,000 or $2 million? No.
Unless I’m a whale donor, I don’t see how that moves the needle on a $100 or $1,000 donation you or I would make. You’re missing the point somehow.
At a time when fan donations help fuel team success more than ever before and when everything is all about money, you find it weird fans want to know what their money will buy in this player economy.
