Did they sign a contract? Matt is a lawyer, absent mutual assent, how does Matt claim the contract will be set aside? Or is he claiming there is no contract or that Mitch will concur it is void as a matter of law?

How can he he went around the board of trustees with the president and basically broke the law, dude. The bot had to sign off on it and they worked around the rules. Let him sue. He was never going to actually work anyway. You really think you could go knocking on his office door m-f? That part was always a sham to help justify the money and hide the fact he was fired. That's why his educator role was still paid by athletics.

How about we wait to see how it's actually resolved before making definitive statements like "[t]he money will still be there."
Mitch's previous AD contract included a provision that allowed him to step into an ambassador role for less money than was offered for the position they subsequently created out of thin air.
The new deal was already signed by both parties, so there will have to be some kind of resolution where Barnhart receives something in exchange for agreeing to back away from the new contract. But there's no requirement the amount of money paid be the same as he would have received otherwise.
Regardless, the good news is that we know whatever payment Barnhart receives won't come from the university or UK Athletics. That's the most important part and a massive win for UK and those who donate to UK sports.
It will just get structured differently. That's why they already mentioned privately funded. Privately funded so they don't have to comply with open records.
Guess what else is private? The brand new LLC that Mitch created and moved athletics assets.
So he's still going to get his money. Its still going to come from athletics. Except now its going to flow through the LLC so it avoids approval and reporting.
Private donors means private donors. It may well be that we'll never know exactly what the number was, but that money won't be coming from athletics.
