IF Pope manages to get him on staff and IF Pope keeps his job until 2029 we should be a lock for Jamal's son who looks to be one of if not the top recruit in his class. 2 huge ifs but definitely something to be hopeful for if Pope were to get this done

Popes dorkiness sorry I figured y'all knew since you guys call him that all the time lol
I got you on that one, bro. I actually find the memes funny, I like to throw in some Pope dork/creep/awkward GIFs. Here’s a classic:

And btw no, I don’t think Pope is a bigger dork than most of us on here. Major projection. He’s in his 50s and in better shape than most, attractive wife, a multimillionaire living in a very nice home. Far from a loser.

That’s why the “Pope is a dork” folks should have to compare their life resumes and let’s see photos to compare. Then we can tell if you put CMP to shame.

I mean If Crawford didn't want to join during the portal and help recruit then do we need him? Who's he bringing with him?

I would think Mo felt like the opportunity to be on staff at UK was too good to pass up. The last 5-6 years have been rough but it’s still UK.

I’m guessing he’s confident he can help turn it around. He gave up a head coaching job and is bringing his son along.

And I hope like hell Pope can convince Crawford to join the staff. I’m guessing it’s doubtful but Pope seemingly recognizes he needs to fix the recruiting. Helping seal the deal for Stokes would be a good start.
And I'm glad Mo came to UK and I hope Crawford does too, I can see good reasons why they could have turned down the opportunity. Pope is in a tough spot. I'm sure they know that.

I don’t know why, he’s thrown the bank at every player he’s went after and it hasn’t worked yet. So unless we have like 8 million cash that is no linked to anything I don’t see why this would be different.
Hey I'll take it lol. I personally think Tyran enjoys the spotlight and will pick the place he feels the most love and attention

I also hope Crawford joins but if he is quit dragging azz and get to Lexington. I like having three former NBA players on the sideline. Run this place like a professional organization. Ironically after Pope got rid of all the NBA posters.

Maybe Stokes told Pope he’d come to UK for $7 mil and Crawford be his coach!

If true I could see Pope just being HC in name. Crawford be the coach of the offense and Williams be the coach of the defense. And hopefully they take away his power to make the substitutions.

Crawford and Pope are from the same place too so they probably have known each other for a long time.

My issue Mo and Jamal have next to no coaching pedigree, we get next to nothing with both of them as assistants.

We get two average, at best, acquisitions, not a great move, IMO

Loading up the coaching staff with former NBA players has its merits. Crawford and Mo in particular likely have ties to existing player agencies, not to mention personal relationships with future players, their kids in particular, but also with the existing youth basketball ecosystem.

And, IF he doesn’t decide to use his assistant coaching time at Kentucky and the marketability of his son to pursue a head coaching position.

I’ve interviewed Mark a few times, I like him and I think he’s a nice guy. I believe that he would fit in with MOST everyone’s friend group on this site. People would probably describe him in superlatives: nice, kind, friendly, good, honest. Most likely, they would also add: different, unique, dork, odd. Or, as I like to refer to him, the Bill Walton of Mormons.

The comparison should not be made between coach Pope and the posters on this board. But, Mark Pope and the coaches he is competing against. I’ve interviewed several coaches, Cal and Rick are notable. I enjoyed my time with Mark and would like to spend time with him in a casual setting. Rick and Cal make me want to go to war for them. I would commit crimes against humanity for them. They ARE that dynamic.

In my opinion, there are eight maybe 10 coaches that can compete with Rick and Cal in this regard. Most coaches fall a couple of notches below them. And, sadly, Mark falls a couple of notches below those other coaches. It doesn’t matter how much I like him, how much I love him or how much I appreciate his love for the University of Kentucky. He does not inspire or demand the room.

My apologies to the board for such a long post. And, to think this was done with brevity 😂
