Good read.

Jerry pushed hard for this story. No one covers the Pirates as he does and it's not even close. Imagine where this program would be without the media coverage of Jerry Carino!!!!
My criticism is focused on the system and college basketball in general. I’m not sure what the school strategy is on dealing with this insanity, but right now for a school like Seton Hall I don’t see the ROI in throwing excessive amounts of money at these kids.I spoke to Jerry a couple of days ago. He told me it would have looked terrible if the Pirates lost their entire team.
Bad enough year in and year out we are simply a farm system for the rest of college basketball. Parker doesn't move the needle like Hines or Clark would have. But imagine the egg on our face if even he decided to leave.
We HAVE to help out the school we root for. If not then really should the haters complain as they do? It's a different era and if fans don't want to donate that's their prerogative. But then their criticism falls on deaf ears as far as I am concerned.
Your choice, of course. But then the criticism faced by Holloway and the program holds little water. You CANNOT win in this envirionment without financial support. I really don't feel like you do that if he left we would have egg on our faces. I think it kind of happened already with the fact he was the only one left.I spoke to Jerry a couple of days ago. He told me it would have looked terrible if the Pirates lost their entire team.

#1 I think we are low in funds and Sha has a hard jobI spoke to Jerry a couple of days ago. He told me it would have looked terrible if the Pirates lost their entire team.

Let's be realistic. Keeping only one player is not a good look either.I spoke to Jerry a couple of days ago. He told me it would have looked terrible if the Pirates lost their entire team.
He’s got talent, needs to have a big offseason. But in this era I appreciate his comments and commitment. If he can be one of the guys that helps build the team bonding and work ethic, translate Sha’s tough love, great. We need that bc we don’t have stars you can just roll the balls out for.Based on everything in the article that Trey said he better show us something and not just talk the talk. He has a lot to prove this coming season. No doubt the potential is there.
I am glad to hear/read that is wasn't a reluctant returnee...ie.,no other real offers, better than nothing, etc., but to have him proactively be so upbeat, positive and....driven to succeed....is what we need to hear!I spoke to Jerry a couple of days ago. He told me it would have looked terrible if the Pirates lost their entire team.

I’m not criticizing Sha for his coaching or having to navigate the current cesspool. He’s got a strategy based on the budget. The plan may not work, but he’s got conviction that it is. His engagement and communication skills need work, but he is what he is.Your choice, of course. But then the criticism faced by Holloway and the program holds little water. Silas Demary and Braylon Mullins. You've been put on notice.Best Backcourt in big east . Yes!
Its a day before Penn Relays APP has a 4-6 page sports section on weekdays maybe 3/4 of it is AP and syndicated copy....I doubt he had to push so hardJerry pushed hard for this story. Let's be realistic, again. The more we give the more the other schools, already way ahead of us, will also receive. If the motivation tactic is to shame people to give more money than that is a poor strategy. That's also why I am so critical of our athletic administration. There are other corporate sponsors out there besides RWJ Barnabas. I have no problem giving more each year and I am blessed to be able to do so, but, year after year, when you see your best players leaving, it does make you think twice about it.Again, tons of complaints, but if we give, and I hope all you that are criticizing are, then this wouldn't be a common occurrence every single year.
I didn't say it Parker said it..Silas Demary and Braylon Mullins. You've been put on notice.
So you put this squarely on the fans, as opposed to a coach who gets paid millions annually but seems to have an awful hard time getting kids to want to return to play for “his type of program/culture”?Again, tons of complaints, but if we give, and I hope all you that are criticizing are, then this wouldn't be a common occurrence every single year.

Our giving rate is a huge problem. One of the few things we can do to help is to give what we can.So you put this squarely on the fans, as opposed to a coach who gets paid millions annually but seems to have an awful hard time getting kids to want to return to play for “his type of program/culture”?
I saw a jerry article in the hard copy app this morning not shu hoops though my high school Alma mater sending 2 elites to penn relays...I am sure Parker will be in fri or sat editionIts a day before Penn Relays APP has a 4-6 page sports section on weekdays maybe 3/4 of it is AP and syndicated copy....I doubt he had to push so hard
Giving and giving rate to the school is one thing. Giving ridiculous sums to MBB is another. Our giving rate is a huge problem. One of the few things we can do to help is to give what we can.
Yea Jerry the Hairdo should get a taste.Carino should also be getting paid as Seton Hall's PR agency. Nobody else does much if anything at all.
I get it. And I know all Dan is trying to do is gin up interest and support for a school and program he loves. All good. I just don't put the player retention issue squarely on the fans/donors. Every year there is going to be portal competition for most players on a high major D-1 squad. Moreso with the best players. I can't just be on the fans to pony up additional $$ to keep a kid. There has to be some perceived value by a player, advisor, parent, etc that staying put is the best option long term. Our giving rate is a huge problem. One of the few things we can do to help is to give what we can.
I cant change our rotation, how players feel. I cant improve their shooting percentage. But I care about shu hoops. If Sha is too tough (i think he us, and thought the same of PJ), i wish he wound change. But I cant effect that change. So I want to do the little I can do. So I go to games, cheer loudly and give what I can.I get it. And I know all Dan is trying to do is gin up interest and support for a school and program he loves. All good. Parker has physical talent, but he really needs to improve his ball handling, decision making and shooting pct. if you want him to start.I wonder If Parker is good enough to start. Look like he knows Jones and for me considering Jons is around average height for a PG compared to Clark, it makes it easier to start Parker as a smaller two.
Like I said, I think Parker shows great energy and hustle any team that wants to win wants and I think he has great first step and good on-ball defense.
I do think he has had bad moments and stretches and I do think he isn't great on-ball defender, but I hope Shaheen and staff and develop him like with others in years past.
Looking objectively, fact only Parker came back. I thought Fisher and Rivera were graduating but I see they even entered the portal.
I do feel large part is just NIL, but I hope it doesn't speak on the culture and Sha's coaching can be a legitimate factor in some of these players leaving.
