I'm just telling you why Rutgers doesn't schedule them anymore, that's all.

As for the two for none deal? I don't see Rutgers having the same pull as Missouri.

mizzou with pull

you guys need to stop acting like a broken bike, it's getting tired and not grounded in reality. shyyt like that feeds a narrative around here, it's why they jump on you so hard when things are proven untrue/true vs what you say.

So again…

Someone is playing them. And in Mizzou’s case both games are in Columbia.

Which is how a P2 team should handle a G5 game….at HOME.

Not really concerned with the who with UCan’t as to the where.
you are 100% and it's not just mizzou

The closeness aspect is not valid. In the comparisons to Temple, Lincoln Financial Field is about an hour away from New Brunswick. The Rent, on the other hand, is over 3 hours away. Hell, the Rent is farther from me in north Jersey than Lincoln Financial Field is.

And let's not forget that Yukon isn't even in a conference anymore.

Home and home. And West Point in early October with the skydivers delivering the game ball, tailgates and foliage beats the snot out of anything UConn can offer.

Completely agree, but the injury angle plays a huge role in why we don't schedule the academies anymore.

East Hartford is a ********, UConn fans are scumbags, their stadium is a ********. At least with Temple it's an easy trip to Philly which actually has redeeming qualities without classless fans.

Funny, I've never had a problem with Temple fans. Yukon fans on the other hand.....

is the injury thing vs the academies even a real thing or another one of these internet created rumors

Their blocking and tackling methods were considered to cause more injuries - they utilized them because they were usually playing against bigger players overall. Not sure if they still employ those schemes.

It's a fact that playing them is more pain than good. The triple option is very hard to defend and requires specialized practices to prep for it and that style of ball is known for carrying a high risk of injury.

I was really hoping they would schedule Mississippi State instead of UCONN for that two year opening. Clearly Greg is substituting local G5 teams for P4 teams.

As a fan, I like to see new matchups, but I understand it from his perspective. I wonder when Pitt and West Virginia get back on the schedule. 🤣

Im not sure why we’re all acting like we’re above UConn, they statistically finished the season rated higher than us and run a successful athletic department with far less resources than us. Bashing them is like calling the prettiest girl at your school ugly bc she wouldn’t go out with you.
UConn played a glorified MAC schedule last year. We would've won 9 games too if we played their slate. I doubt they would've been a bowl team if they had our slate playing Iowa, Minnesota, PSU, Oregon, Washington, etc.

No one wants to play Army, guys get way too banged up in those games.
If you ask the fans I am sure Army is 1000% more favorable than playing UCONN. Also Schiano was also all in on playing Army and Navy. Also Kansas St., Notre Dame, Boston College, Syracuse,LSU, Missouri all have no issue playing Army on their schedules.

Yes if you ask the fans? I would 100% agree, but if you ask the coaches, they are 100% against the idea. He was in the past, but things have changed and health is of the utmost importance, especially after the injury plagued seasons in recent history. Good for them, but from what I know and have been told, I don't see it happening again at Rutgers anytime soon.

Funny that Tennessee, Michigan, UNC, Syracuse, Maryland, Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, Air Force & North Carolina State have all played UConn in the past 4 years!

Of the P2, only Maryland has played in East Hartford. And that’s for this year.

I did see Indiana is on a future schedule for a home game. But who knows if that ever happens.

How many of those were on the road? I think only Duke, Wake, Cuse, and BC did with Maryland due to this year. Tennessee damn sure didn't go to East Hartford.

In what world is Uconn the prettiest girl school?

Or any girl that isn't 400 lb with a neckbeard?

The way Cignetti operates OOC, I have zero doubt that UConn game will get cancelled for Ball State. After winning a Natty, he can strategize OOC the way he wants to.

***EDIT*** I stand corrected as Michigan played there in 2013, Missouri in 2017, Illinois in 2019, Purdue in 2021.

UConn has done a pretty good job building schedules as an independent -- I didn't think it could be done. Of the schools that have played them in football, did they also get basketball games built into the contract?

I'd have to think that we win both games -- pretty easily. But UConn did beat ACC champion Duke last year if I'm not mistaken.

What I don't understand is claiming there is any type of benefit for either school in scheduling a 2 game series other than it being a close game that isn't terribly expensive. If we played them as a one and done, it probably costs us a lot more as the costs for the return home games probably balance each other out over 2 years. If anyone has insight into that it would be interesting to find out.

I'd like to see Rutgers play some of it's old BE opponents Miami , UConn. BC.VT.WV ,Pitt ,and even Syracuse on a rotating bases . Add Temple to the mix.
Also smaller Florida programs like Florida Atlantic and FIU. to help recruit Florida talent .

Temple is already on the slate and we arent playing road games vs FAU or FIU. Could maybe see UCF or USF however.

I’d kill for the 400 lb girl with a neck beard if it meant we were relevant in anything. Hell, when we hired Pickell we used all UConn’s NBA players in a graphic for his success. Even the AD is jealous.

Not a fan of playing those savages from East Hartford. They make Penn State fans look like civilized people. Should've just had them play a one and done in NB.
By far the worst fan base ever encountered both at their crappy wind tunnel of a stadium and when they visited Piscataway. Visiting women’s bball fans were terrible too.

When was the last time you encountered the UConn fan base? Rutgers has not played UConn in football, men's basketball, or women's basketball in more than a decade.

My experience at the Big East men's basketball championship game last month was both UConn and St. John's fans were super both inside MSG and outside before, during, and after the game.
