I'm not counting little-Hawthorne. So we basically have 3 guards right now (Zoom, Wilkins, & Fr-Williams). So even with a 2G lineup (80 G minutes), we must add a 4th guard (to actually be the 1st G off the bench, & likely play 20ish mpg). If we went with a 3G lineup, then he would play more, but we'd also maybe need a 5th guard in that case.
Yes a starting PF is priority 1, but priority 2 has to be a good 3pt shooting G.
Don't think the guards who are visiting now are coming here to be backups. We only have two playable guards right now.
DialloHe will if he lands Stokes, and Oweh gets a 5th year of eligibility.
Not many “plan to be backups”, but only 5 can start. But like I was saying 2+ years ago, “minutes matter more than starting “. Sheppard came off the bench yet was 2nd on the team in total minutes averaging 30+ in SEC games, while Jelavic started over half of this season and even when starting he averaged only 15mpg.Don't think the guards who are visiting now are coming here to be backups.
Cox is USCHas had 1/2 a pg in tournament play, and backup pg is a tough find NIL era. Perfect example is our roster. Finding someone like Cox who is 3 parts pg to 1 part sg would be ideal if a minor injury happens. Wilkins fits that mold too. I think he wants to make sure his offensive can be ran by multiple ball handlers.
I think.
Montgomery from Dayton would be a great addI'm not counting Lil’-Hawthorne. So we basically have 3 guards right now (Zoom, Wilkins, & Fr-Williams). Unless Something unforeseen happens, he’s going to have to run out a three guard offense, and hope for the best.I've noticed he is pursuing a lot of guards when the 3 and 4 seem to be more vital needs. Or is it just a case of taking what you can get at this point?
Kam considers Himself a guard . His Dad said he will be a 2 in NBA.I'm not counting Lil’-Hawthorne. So we basically have 3 guards right now (Zoom, Wilkins, & Fr-Williams). If we add only 1 more guard, starting or not he is likely to play 20+ per game, at a minimum 15mpg. If he proves as good as Zoom and Wilkins, maybe
Doesn't a 3 guard lineup have to be the pitch during the visit? They already know we have Diallo and Wilkins in the fold. Not many “plan to be backups”, but only 5 can start.
