I consider off the court irrelevant unless it puts someone in danger. I want to win, I don’t give a damn how your morals are.
There were numerous federal laws violated and who knows the extent of STD's involved. I definitely would have forbidden a kid of mine to visit U of L armed with the information as to what was going down at Minardi Hall.

If Jai has another successful year at Miami, he's got to be at the top of the list after Pope gets canned this year.

Sean Miller at Texas. He had Arizona rolling before he got in trouble there.
He never won in the NCAA tournament man always an early out so he’s all hard. No I mean there’s some guys right now. I mean Billy Donovan is a Hall of Fame coach. He’s gonna freaking go to the next level if he’s at Kentucky with his NBA connections.

Josh Schertz is my one and only call if Pope doesn’t make it past next season.
No, I went and looked them up now a dude from St. Louis. Sorry he’s Billy Gillespie all over again.. there’s a common thread. You can sense it in a coach. That dude doesn’t have it.. it’s that factor that’s brought as eight titles with five coaches. It’s critical though to find the right coach..

I hope not. The guy has to be a sure thing. This fanbase lost patience years ago. Hiring another guy that “maybe” good is a disaster waiting to happen. The one and only way I’d hire him is if Hurley, Oats, Golden and maybe a couple more all turn down atleast 3 offers each.

How would you know this? You had never heard the of him before. Schertz is the winningest basketball coach on any level over the past 10 years. Kentucky will need to find their coach- not rehash some older candidate because he won something 20 years ago. Florida found Golden, Alabama found Oats, Michigan found May, it’s time UK had someone smart enough to make the right hire.

All 3 of your examples were hired by major programs from P5 schools.

Why does BBN think the university can hire any coach they pick? Didn't anyone learn anything two years ago when a multitude of coaches turned down Barnhart? Arguably the coaching 'attraction' is now even worse.

Except that didn’t happen. There was no search. And the only real offer other than Pope was Drew.

If UK opens the job to a proper search they will send qualified coaches away.

We really need to focus on coaches that have a longer history of success at a P5 school. We can't keep hoping to get "up and comers" because we'll just be repeating the same misery.

First thing first - we have to hope Pope quits or gets fired. We may have a chance at this if the hooplah going on around Beshear, Eli and Mitch is real. If they are being looked at, I'd not be surprised to see them both resign to avoid more serious issues or bad PR, which would hopefully leave the door open for a big change in the AD leadership, and thus more aggressive and fan-aligned expectations for Mark Pope (read: succeed, or beat it).

But if Golden stays at FL or Billy D sits out a year and Pope sucks it up as we all fully expect he will, along with a new, aggressive AD - I'd say go after Golden, Donovan, Pearl, or Lloyd. Then step it down to the next tier of *proven* coaches, not these "up and comers".

I agree. There's always the possibility you get lucky and find the budding star, but the reality is we are supposed to be the behemoth that takes the budding star from the smaller schools, not the ones finding them before they bud.

Reading these replies really reminds me this is one of the dumbest places on the internet. Just no awareness of the current landscape of college sports.
