Dude, you made the claim, so you need to support it a little. What methodology did you use to assess market value for those players? And you continue to say no one on the staff confirms the amount they pay players. My friend, that is the very point. MJ said we offered the most for Wilkins. The first guy we’ve actually beat out other teams for. Given what else has happened it doesn’t take a genius to figure out Pope had to offer more than he’s worth. As for Diallo, Matt said he didn’t even have any other high dollar offers so that’s how we got him. But I guarantee Pope had to up the offer after pissing off Zoom making it obvious that he was the second option behind Wright. Hell he hasn’t even been able to give money away to most of these recruits. They’ve turned us down even when we tried to overpay.

Overpaying doesn’t even bother me at this point because it’s the only way Pope can get anyone.

Paying the most is not the same as overpaying. To say we overpaid, someone would have to be able to determine market value for the player and then how much we paid. I doubt OP knows either. I’ve told him the same thing about 5 times now and I see zero posted numbers. Like I said, it is unsubstantiated speculation and frankly a stretch.

1 month ago, on March 22 , Mark Pope humiliated UK on the national stage losing by 19 points to IS in NCAA tournament .

Instead of hiding in shame or better resign , he decided to attack his predecessor and BBN calling his tenure at UK : progress. He promised a much better team , in year 3.


so far over this 4 weeks period, Mark Pope cashed over $ 407,000 of his salary, spend probably few more bucks on traveling and per diem to achieve :

- hiring his buddy from BYU
- hiring the dad of a 4 star freshman ( the only way he was able to recruit FRESHMAN IN 2026)
- returned Noah, KW
- returned red shirt player RP from Lexington
- returned red shirt player Hawthorne only after he hired his younger brother ( Again that s the only he can recruit freshman by hiring their relatives )
- overpaid for the promise of MM return
- overpaid for ZD and AW.


UK men basketball team has no coaching staff, no decent players but has a coach keep cashing his hefty paycheck to deliver mediocre results.

The only solution is boycotting UK games and stop buying UK gear and demand change from The Governor in UK leadership.

When you put it in list form it really amplifies how terrible he is. Add into all the whiffs he has had in two years and it really shows how awful he is.

Yeah Auburn game we were cheated. That one game alone would have made us I think a 4. Anyone can say that but roster didn't pan out. We have had 10 teams go to sec tournament. After lowe got hurt he wasn't the same so I can't say. I know after this year if he don't do decent we will have another coach. I think most would have kept cal after losing to st Peter Oakland Evansvilles of the world. There is some on here who wanted both cal and pope gone. Behind the scenes I dunno who's telling pope not to do this or that or if it's stubbornness.

Does it? We don’t have a large sample size. We ABSOLUTELY know he did that last year and that there was a conscious effort not to do it this time. It has resulted in us backing off guys over that. Collin Chandler? Jaland Lowe? Donnie Freeman? If he’s overpaying, he’s overpaying but it seems that FOR THIS PORTAL SEASON, Pope has made it a point not to.
