1 month ago, on March 22 , Mark Pope humiliated UK on the national stage losing by 19 points to IS in NCAA tournament .

Instead of hiding in shame or better resign , he decided to attack his predecessor and BBN calling his tenure at UK : progress. He promised a much better team , in year 3.


so far over this 4 weeks period, Mark Pope cashed over $ 407,000 of his salary, spend probably few more bucks on traveling and per diem to achieve :

- hiring his buddy from BYU
- hiring the dad of a 4 star freshman ( the only way he was able to recruit FRESHMAN IN 2026)
- returned Noah, KW
- returned red shirt player RP from Lexington
- returned red shirt player Hawthorne only after he hired his younger brother ( Again that s the only he can recruit freshman by hiring their relatives )
- overpaid for the promise of MM return
- overpaid for ZD and AW.


UK men basketball team has no coaching staff, no decent players but has a coach keep cashing his hefty paycheck to deliver mediocre results.

The only solution is boycotting UK games and stop buying UK gear and demand change from The Governor in UK leadership.

How do you know that he overpaid for ZD and AW? What resource did you use to assess market value for their contracts and where did you get a confirmed number that the staff paid? A lot of what you posted is fair and reasonable justification for anger but some of that is unsubstantiated jargon.

Nobody from the staff will ever confirm How much they paid. look online for how much the other schools were offering for those 2 ….


MP is cashing hefty checks and is humiliating our program with every decision he is allowed to make.

We don’t know the exact number, but it’s been reported we actually UNDERPAID for Moreno because the kid is committed to try and build back up the program he loves and wanted Pope to have more money to throw at other players.

other than that…it’s not looking great.

Calipari is not our coach so not my problem as UK fan. However, Cal is 100 times the coach or 100,000 times the players developer or 1 million time the recruiter Mark Progress ever dreamed to be. It seems the hate for Cal for some of you is stronger than the love for UK.

So even the few seemingly good things he’s done (Wilkins, Moreno, Zoom) you spin into bad by claiming he “overpaid” …even though you have no actual knowledge or proof that he overpaid.

Well, you certainly sound like a fair minded person.

For the first time in my life, I will. Boycott is probably the wrong word, but if things don’t change in a massive way before the season starts, I won’t watch much. Not to prove a point or because I think it will change things. I’ll just find better things to do than watch the program we all love get clobbered 20 games.

Calipari fan. I dunno how we beat them this year. Pope is a better coach now than calipari recruiter no. He had a great in acuff and only made it to one round past us. Only hard team he best in the sec tourney was candy. We are struggling with finding a pf but just hush. Razorbacks need bandwagon fans.

If next season unfolds the way things appear they will (at the moment), it may not be a boycott per se, but fans will stop flocking to games as they do now. You think a 3-9 SEC team will draw a full house for a 9PM Wednesday night start? I can see some Rupp games being at 50% capacity next year if the season in fact implodes.

tell me the the first 3 answers. One is KSR media…

that should be enough legs to stand on…..

I am not going put out in public my private discussion but it is well known in recruiting , coaches circles and in this case is public information on a simple google search.

so far what I wrote much earlier about Billy D before MP got hired or UK corruption, budget issues, MB , others have picked on ….

Dude, you made the claim, so you need to support it a little. What methodology did you use to assess market value for those players? And you continue to say no one on the staff confirms the amount they pay players. My friend, that is the very point. You, me and no one else have the ability to say we overpaid for ZD and AW because we don’t know for sure how much we even spent. Come on, man. It’s not hard to be more precise than this. And it’s nothing personal either. I actually quite like the way you organize your thoughts. This is just a bad original post. It’s nothing but a retread of the same tired dead horse beatings with a few unsubstantiated wild claims thrown in there as paprika.

We needed a half court prayer to beat Santa Clara and we could've had to beat only Vandy, had we been the #3 seed rather than the #9 seed. MP said he was gonna hang #9. Didn't know he meant 9th place in the SEC

It's so bizarre to me Pope compared a 2 season stretch to 4. He also didn't compare the past 2 years of himself vs Cal at Arkansas. I wonder why. Or compare his first 2 years to Cals first 2 at UK. I wonder why.

No one bought what he was selling except for the Popettes and Popes Dopes fan clubs, with dwindling numbers.

How about this:
1. How many tournament games did Calipari win in his first two seasons?
2. How many tournament games did Pope win in his first two seasons?


For a guy that "understands the assignment" he is awful lost in understanding that the last four years of Calipari was why he was pushed out.

MJ said we offered the most for Wilkins. The first guy we’ve actually beat out other teams for. Given what else has happened it doesn’t take a genius to figure out Pope had to offer more than he’s worth. As for Diallo, Matt said he didn’t even have any other high dollar offers so that’s how we got him. But I guarantee Pope had to up the offer after pissing off Zoom making it obvious that he was the second option behind Wright. Hell he hasn’t even been able to give money away to most of these recruits. They’ve turned us down even when we tried to overpay.

Overpaying doesn’t even bother me at this point because it’s the only way Pope can get anyone.
