We have 15 scholarships. And much bigger problems than this. Leave the kid alone. Focus your anger on the adults screwing things up.
I think Hawthorne is gonna be really good. I also think his brother could be better than any point guard we had last year. If Hawthorne would have been in this years Freshman class he’s probably a top 25 player. If his brother is not that good he doesn’t play and is gone next year. He also put on 30 pounds and we need players to field a team. I read it real slow and it still makes sense. This is what it takes to keep a dude that was 40# too light to play last yr. You gotta take his no talent brother. I swear to god man. Just read that slowly. That’s. What. It. Took. To. Keep. Freaking. Braden. Freaking. Hawthorne.
So you think there’s no possibility he could be as good as Jarod Polson. I mean not starter good but he could be serviceable to give someone a breather. Never gonna have 15 5 stars. However we damn sure need at least three. Why in the world would you want to welcome a player that isn’t worthy of playing at UK to the program? Like honestly. What’s the point? To prove you’re somehow better than those that gripe and complain? Let me clue you in on something, YOU should be groping and complaining too. It’s that bad.
If you think his little brother is going to be better than Aberdeen or even Jasper or even Lowe…honestly, respectfully, I think you don’t know your a$$ from apple butter when it comes to college basketball.I think Hawthorne is gonna be really good. Correct. I don’t think he could ever be a rotation piece on an elite college team. A 15 loss team that gets its coach fired? For sure. Fits that bill.So you think there’s no possibility he could be as good as Jarod Polson. I mean not starter good but he could be serviceable to give someone a breather. Never gonna have 15 5 stars. Aberdeen was playing out of position and wasn’t bad. Lowe who knows we never seen him play. As far as Brayden, he’s living off being the backup QB. I’ll wait to see him take a few snaps before erasing any question marks I have. Here’s the thing about Hawthorne in practice last year that always makes me curious. If he’s playing the 3…was he being defended by Chandler and Noah (the other 3s)? They could make a lot of guys look good. Something to ponder.
I’ve never seen the kid play you’re probably correct. Time will tell. I don’t think this is a guy anybody wanted. However if his brother is one of our best players and you’re short on players why not add a pratice player. If he turns out to be more great.Correct. What excuse? You really thought Williams would be our 15th man? Dude is a low 4 star. You all are making excuses for everything this man does. He had to sign his brother who is nowhere near the level player we need to keep him. That’s sad. KSR didn’t even know anything about him. We already had Mason Williams but at least he was ranked.
Starter for a low level team? The kid ain’t even ranked at all. No stats. You can’t even find anything about the kid. Have you been drinking tonight or something? What excuse? You really thought Williams would be our 15th man? Dude is a low 4 star.
The shorter Hawthorne will likely be one of the better 15th guys in the country. He probably could be a rotation player/point guard in waiting or even a starter for some low level D1 teams.
Our frontcourt being Casper in the witness protection program beyond Moreno should be plenty to rend garments over and when that gets dull "where are the shooters" screeds make plenty of sense but this one I don't get.
If it was 5'4 combo forward Joe Rando, number 573 in the nation or some booster's grand nephew that couldn't even merit practice body consideration who slipped in later no one would bat an eye.
Yes rare but stupid in a way. Don’t recruit them if you’re not going to play them. Plus injuries do factor in. Actually I hated the way Cal treated very good ball players like Bryce Hopkins & Booker by not playing them equally to Mega ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.So it’s a very rare thing …right?
Call me what you will...go find me an 800th ranked anything in CBB that's ever been worth a crap. I'm sure you can find one or two, just like the people that found one or two players that recovered from an ACL tear in 6 months like we were told was going to be the case with JQ. 99.9% of the players in that ranking can't cut it at this level. I feel confident in the 1/1000 chance this dude won't.Aberdeen was playing out of position and wasn’t bad. Lowe who knows we never seen him play. Jasperif he can bring the ball up and not forget the ball I’d say he’s better than Jasper.
I think Hawthorne is going to be really good. Has the height, wingspan, and if he shoots near as good as they say he’s gonna be a helluva player.
You are quite the keyboard warrior coach. I’m just saying we got to play with the guys we have. No reason to bash a guy before he steps on the court.
The biggest issue is they're counting on his brother, who wasn't good enough to play last year (being too frail is part of being not good enough), being one of the best players this coming season. Agreed with what you say though. My issue is, we currently have about six guys that fit the 13th-15th man role. That doesn't math out real well.I’ve never seen the kid play you’re probably correct. Yeah, I've heard Pope and others babble about how good Trent and Travis shot it too. Like I said, need to see him play. I have my doubts he'll be "very good". I think he'll be serviceable, at least on a good team. But that's kinda the issue. As it stands and the way it's trending, this isn't a good team. In fact, it's garbage especially for UK standards. You said "we got to play with the guys we have". You are correct, but that's the problem. Currently and collectively the guys we have suck.
Possibly!A

WV guy here. I've followed both of their careers since they were in elementary school. I admit, I didn't see the younger one play at all last year at the prep school, but I did watch a lot of his games his junior season. As a WVU fan, it didn't really bother me when the older one decommitted. Not saying he can't be a good player eventually, but he's just never been able to put on weight no matter how much weight training he's done. He's always been weak and frail. He's also a long way from being a solid contributor in a power conference, in my opinion. He could possibly be a role player in a few years in the right system, but I've just never seen anything to warrant his ranking in high school and that would lead me to believe otherwise. As far as the younger one goes, unless he's developed significantly in the past year, he would be a great D2 player, but there's no way I see him contributing even at a mid-major level. I'm truly baffled by Pope's decision on this one. He only had a few offers (no major schools) and those were based on the hope his brother would be a package deal. I have nothing against either kid. They seem to have come from a good family. I'm just shocked both are at Kentucky given what I've seen from them. The biggest issue is they're counting on his brother, who wasn't good enough to play last year (being too frail is part of being not good enough), being one of the best players this coming season. Thanks for the thoughts. Good stuff! I’m pretty surprised too. I think it’s just where we are with Popes inability to get big time recruits.WV guy here. Pope seems to be struggling with recruiting. Feels like he was much better off at BYU. Maybe UK is too big of a stage for him as a coach. I guess time will tell. As far as the Hawthorne's go, I've heard some rumblings that the younger one was brought in to make dad happy and keep the older one from transferring. If this tells you anything, Marshall University is less than 2 miles from the prep school where Zyon played, and they never offered him a scholarship. Thanks for the thoughts. Good stuff!
