Uh oh Tennessee is looking really good

They already have 5 portal commits

Dai dai Ames 17 ppg at cal
Terrence Hill jr 16 ppg at vcu
Jalen haralson 16 ppg at notre dame
Tyler lundblade 16 ppg at Belmont
Miles Rubin 12 ppg at Loyola Chicago

And they are the favorite to land juke Harris (22 ppg at wake forest) the #1 player in the portal. Nate ament actually looks like he might come back even though he is a top 15 draft pick but all the insiders are saying he could come back. What I think is happening is Tennessee is giving barnes 20+ million to work with for his “farewell tour” or whatever. For me my best friend is a Tennessee fan so it will be annoying if they are really good next year which it looks like they will be also it looks like they are taking less of the Rick Barnes out rebounds you approach, and more of the we are deep and will outscore you approach.

Had to endure Dai Dai Ames for a year at UVa. He is terrible.

6 SEC schools are ahead of us with portal rankings at this point. Pope can’t recruit good enough to ever be elite. He would work possibly at a football school but not at UK. Good guy but just can’t get the players to want to play for him. It’s terrible to see a nice guy that loves the program struggle like this.

Only 6? Heck, that's not bad, reading the comments on here the last 2 weeks, I was thinking we ranked 25th in the SEC.

Those portal commits might not be as good as the numbers look since only two did it against power five competition and those two played for bad teams. But if you add Harris or Ament they'll be top 10, top 3 if both.

Harrelson is a stud. May be best player in conference next year. I wanted him more than any player portal or highschool

Yeah, I gotta give Tennessee boosters credit, they are going all in trying to let Barnes be the one to lead them to the first Final Four in the history of their program before he retires. Anything short of that would have to be a disappointment for them. I always thought he was an underachiever with the talent he had at Texas, but IMO he's overachieved at Rocky Flop. Held his own against Cal, but has surprisingly struggled against Pope (of course he does have the win that counted most over him).

They're a historical joke, but their admin at least looks like they're taking the NIL Era seriously when it comes to men's basketball. Guarantee they'll do their best to have a competent replacement for him, too. It's just sad to see programs with very mediocre histories conduct themselves like more of a blueblood than what Kentucky is currently doing.

ames and rubin are not very good. haralson cant shoot. lundblade depends on if he adjusts. and no depth.

It’s always been the point I’ve tried to make even IF he could be decent here and there and sign a decent class here and there pope CANNOT be ELITE there isn’t a chance in hell that can happen. And I never deal in absolutes. Ever. But there is a ZERO chance he can win to the level that is required here.

he should have been forced to settle or be fired at the end of the season. This is ridiculous we still entertain this b

People don't understand how much $ they have for Basketball. I keep telling people that they are one of the biggest spenders in basketball and everyone keeps rolling their eyes at me. I'm serious.

I care because I hate Tennessee WAY more than Louisville or Duke. They have no actual historical success in basketball and a coach that has a reputation of underachieving, yet they seem to get the players they want the last few years despite likely spending significantly less than us. While we end up getting our 4th option under Pope. Really frustrating.

Nothing against you but I'm tired of all this He's a nice guy that loves the program BS. Hell, we're all nice guys the love the program. What's terrible is what he's doing to our program!

Not like it matters. We’re looking like we might not even finish in the top 10 of the SEC. What does it matter what one team does. We’re possibly in the bottom 4 while they’re in the top 4.
