I promise if I were the coach after this past season, I’d have contacted everyone starting with #1 down and make them say no. Had he started getting a couple top players, (and the fanbase got excited), the money would have been flying in for more great players. Maybe he has some plan that no one has thought of yet and we destroy everyone this year. Here’s hoping
Correct, Pope has failed as the coach of the University of Kentucky and a third year was given for optics when we have no replacement athletic director to make decisions. After Louisville embarrasses us back to back years, it will be publicly known and nationally discussed that we are in the market for a new coach.
Yes, there is a reason McCollum and Iowa didn’t want to keep him. What did he do last year other than make one shot that was noteworthy? Every stat line basically cut in half or more from his previous year. Not every player translates into power 4 production. If we were going after a different player we didn’t remember from the year before and without the name recognition with the same stats not one fan would be excited about it.

But what does it really mean? The Dodgers are just outspending every other team and buying Championships. It really doesn’t mean anything. The NFL, NBA, and NHL all have salary caps, so teams are somewhat on an even level playing field, so, when you win a title in those three sports, you’ve accomplished something.

His defense is obviously lacking, but he is one of the most skilled big guys on offense. He is just not worth the price tag because of the amount of minutes he typically plays.
MoD averaged more point per game in the same minutes and his offense was atrocious. This guy was skilled at a lower level that didn’t translate when he went to Iowa, on paper sure he is skilled but the reality is last season he was a bust. Stats don’t lie, opinions do though.
He was the 6th man on an 13 loss Iowa team and only started 1 game. The exact type player people on here crushed us for getting last year and now little brother gets that type guy and suddenly they are getting everybody blah blah, the double standards are wild just to fit the narrative they want.

And these players are 18-23 years old and don't get to "know" the coach, so they largely go by the reputation that the coach has established with player representatives and guys that have played under that coach.
I know you guys are not a fan of @Rainmaker , but this assessment of Folgueiras is pretty spot on. He wasn't a player that anyone had to game plan for or worry about facing; he hit a massive shot in the Sweet 16 and got paid because of it. He is not a plus starter at the level he's playing at.
