A couple of tournament games notwithstanding, he didn’t have a very good year at Iowa after moving up a level in competition, and has some rumors about being a difficult locker room presence, so not a big loss in isolation.

I definitely get it that we’re getting pretty desperate at the 4 spot though. The portal is pretty barren at that position now, and all we have at most are a couple of wings who can slide over there for a few minutes of small ball. We really botched the whole Rancik/Freeman situation badly.

His problem at Iowa is they played him out of position.

Why did we not recruit this kid? PF with size who can shoot, pass, rebound, defend and was just a key contributor to a E8 team. Played better against Florida than maybe anyone on our team. Doesn't make sense.
Pope recruited him last season too, you would think after he went after like 4 of the same guys this year he would have been one of them.

I just gotta know how commuter U has a seemingly infinite wallet for basketball and the state U is shopping on a budget? Can someone explain that to me like i’m 5 please?
I wanna know this too -- thought they were operating on a credit line? How the fk they gonna keep doing this year over year without going bankrupt? Maybe that's actually the plan?

I can’t believe how the last five years has changed for both of our programs, It’s unbelievable. Congrats to Louisville though as bad as that hurts to say. lol. They’re putting their money where their mouths are and making great investments into their team. They’re going to be pretty high to start the year, maybe 8-12 range, maybe even higher. Keep up the good work Mark!

Why are all these players choosing Louisville over Lexington?

Louisville's making it rain every time a guy's on campus. They probably could've gotten Blackwell if he took his visit there tomorrow.

I want to know where our NIL is going. We've signed two guys that are somewhat expensive and our main options right now appear to be Gabe Dynes, Jerone Morton and Justin McBride.

Didn’t we want him last year?
Some did, some didn't. That was last year. This season when he entered the portal I remember most saying he got exposed in the Big Ten and wasn't very good. I haven't even seen our name associated with him this year. Yet, people on here acting like Pope let Yaxel get away or something. I'm all for griping about Pope when it's valid. This isn't one I'm upset about.

I’d love to know the answer myself. Are we just not offering enough? Are we not contacting most of the top rated players? Are some of the fans right about how the players feel about Mark? I’d love to get a ten minute this is what’s up video! A little hope would do wonders right now for the fanbase.

I don't know either. Our resident "insider" Rainman...err Rainmaker told us they shot their wad on Bidenga and Shelsted and were out of money. Still waiting on him to steer his bff Momcilovic to UK.

Players don’t go to teams because of the town. Otherwise kids would only want to go to places like St. John’s, USC and UCLA. They go for the coach and money. And depending who the coach is means that the player might be willing to take less money if they’re capable of convincing them.

Our current coach couldn’t recruit his mother to Lexington and that’s the cold, hard truth. In the end, who the coach has always mattered more than the school’s prestige. It’s up to these schools to hire good and great coaches to continue to keep their prestige.

So far our corrupt AD has done everything in his power to swipe our status, probably to pocket whatever he can get out of it.

I hear you, but I think it’s a combination of everything. If our staff wanted the guy, I’m sure everyone would’ve been happy to land him. Just seems we’re losing a lot of the guys we did want, while others,( especially our rivals), are getting everyone they want. I’m sure we’ll end up with a decent team, I was kinda thinking year three he would be trying to bring in a championship level team. Still could I know.

I don't know about their credit line. I do know NIL money comes from outside of the school. It seems they have found some NIL donors.
I read that they had to borrow 240 million last year to stay afloat. Maybe I misunderstood what the money was for but I did read something about it.

We arent't being told the full truth on how this nil stuff works. It seems like money isn't really a factor idk

@Rainmaker you said UL had no money left

What happened?
A 20 minutes a game role player who had 8pt 3 rebounds a game on a mediocre Iowa team? They had a tourney run but went 24-13. They were fringe top 25 just like us last year and he was far from impressive. That’s exactly the players I said they’d have to get. He was a portal bust last year already.
