Guy has some interesting analytics. Have to like the 3-pt shooting percentage (98th percentile) but he is also very good at drawing contact and getting to the line. He's 91st% in Free throw rate drawing 6.5 fouls per 40 minutes. And he's a 79% FT shooter. That makes for an interesting offensive player. He can break down defenders and draw contact as driver while also shooting a very high % from 3. Those are both valuable traits. High usage rate 26.6% yet maintained a solid eFG% of 52,3% (59th percentile).

Now the negatives. Although he drives and draws a lot of fouls he's a poor finisher at the rim (18th percentile). Defensively, he is rated very poorly. Low steal rate, low rebounding rate, low impact on team defense. And of course, he played for a losing Ivy League team that was 11-16 and rated #276 in KP.

Overall the guy is a shooter and bucket-getter who can create for himself or off the catch. The big question is how does it translate to the physical BE, a much higher level. It's nice to have a guy who can create, get to the line and hit 3s. Let Sha make him a defender and hopefully an adequate rebounder also.

Thx Steve. Never saw him play.

We now need size and a strong wing.

Wouldn't it be strange if Coleman came back despite a lot of posters not being in favor of that?
I would love it lol

I figured Sha would at least give him a call. Do you think there is any mutual interest?

Another interesting thing about Thomas is only 61% of his 3s were assisted which falls in the bottom 9% of all D-1 players. That means 40% of his 3s were created himself through stepbacks or dribble off a screen. We didn't have anyone who could do that on last year's team. Budd was the only player that could win in a 1 on 1 iso situation and he wasn't a 3-pt threat.

See if Trey elects to stay tonight. Wouldn't hate him as a defensive-minded bench athlete. But wouldn't hate if we had another opening to add another guard who can shoot it.

Even though we have nothing but guards there are still a lot of offensive-minded smaller guards available. I would like to have 1 change of pace guy who can fly around like Budd but also be a 3-point threat. Similar to Providence adding Malik Mack to their stable of bigger guards.

The 4 guards we added are all 6'3" to 6'5". We could get another bucket getting, playmaking shooter that could complement what we have.

"These IVY league guys seem to typically work well at higher levels too."

Is that true?

Not that the "portal rankings" are the be all, end all. We know they aren't, and that there are as many "misses" as "hits", it seems, certainly when you look within the top 100 and outside the top 100. Out of curiosity, where does the Dartmouth kid rank if anyone happens to have looked already (if not, Google will aid me later lol).

He shot 44% from 3, is 6’5 and put up a solid ppg. I get they need more size but I thought this thread would be ecstatic. This is exactly what I wanted to see more of!
Ecstatic might be a bit overstated, but I am rather thrilled with a 44% 3 point shooter.

950 from Evan Miya. Defense is not rated well but his offense seems rated way too low by Miya.
