No, Miami has got tons on money and they aren't trying to win a title, just field a tourney team. The administration is not helping the coaching staff right now and that's not gonna change no matter who the coach is.

Never been a fan since he snubbed us as a recruit. I have serious doubt that he would come here as a coach either.
People act like there’s no coach in college basketball who likes pressure and challenges. Like there aren’t a bunch of weirdos out there who are super competitive.
And before you bring up UNC, they still hired a former NBA championship coach while we hired a guy who couldn’t even win a conference title.
According to some fans we might as well give up on the basketball program since clearly no one wants the job. Just shut it down and focus on football I guess.

Maybe. As of today, most realistic move would be to bring Pitino home or hire Pearl. People ***** about it, but they’re just ignorant. Either one would be an A+ hire for 5 or so years til the right young coach is available
Jai has coached for one year. Let him simmer for 5-7 years and revisit him.
If we can’t land an elite coach like Oats, Golden, May, etc. We seriously need to offer Pitino or Pearl a 3-4 year contract as a bridge coach. They would at least compete for championships and make UK win again instead of turning into irrelevancy.

He’s charismatic and the players relate to him. Look how quick he turned Miami around and we are being told by some of our own fans to have patience with Pope…. First year coaches are putting all new rosters together and winning big but not here we’re not

Honestly, Jai is the kind of guy I’d gladly let “learn on the job” because I know he can get guys and get them to buy into the team. CMP couldn’t convince his mother to play for him and if she did, she certainly wouldn’t be very happy about it.
Ksr today gave the reason for Lucas leaving, told Cal they needed to adapt to the times and butted heads with him so that’s why he left. Maybe he would like to come back and do it his way plus throw a little shade at cal at his old program. I would be on board with this hire but it would make too much sense so the brains at UK probably wouldn’t even try to talk to him.
If Lucas had played UK's schedule he likely loses at least 14 games if not more. Miami's SRS rating (performance vs schedule) was 17.69 vs 19.13 for Kentucky.

Josh Schertz is my one and only call if Pope doesn’t make it past next season.
He's one of about 4-5 you have to consider. Lucas, McCollum, Oats, Oltz, and maybe Miller. The AD should keep it simple and pull from that pool - assuming Lucas and McCollum continue to make leaps with their programs.
NO, he has had one year as head coach. He went to one round of 32 game, is that what you call a successful year. We can't get this hire wrong, it has to be someone that is a for sure thing. It has to be Bruce Pearl or someone like him.
This is like the Democrats. Somebody comes on television and doesn't totally **** the bed and all of the sudden "Maybe he could be the President?"
He's gonna have a successful year. Lucas has done well in the portal landing Lewis, Cyril, and Goode so far. Bright future!
What’s Lucas done to deserve to even be mentioned for the job. What is he done? Next coach needs to be a proven coach not an up-and-coming with?’s all around up in commer is fine but they need to be freaking solid.

McCollum may not leave Iowa, but realistically he's not winning a title at Iowa so who knows. Lucas and Schertz are guys who need to have another good season to be considered viable for me.
