Maybe our Democrat governor and Republican supermajority legislature can display a rare act of bipartisanship and nix Barney’s new fake job.
No idea, but just that he called this out publicly should excite every one of us. Hopefully saying things and bringing it to light is enough to get this ball rolling and get these clowns out of control of the UK athletic department.Pardon my ignorance. I understand that Kentucky is a state funded school. What jurisdiction does the governor actually have over the university, if any at all? Does he have the power to override the board of trustees? Can the governor fire Dr. Eli Capilouto ? How do these things even work?
Most likely, but the side effect we all want is Mitch is gone and we can FINALLY get an AD that wants to improve things rather than squander - give $1mil a year to a clown or spend that on a new practice facility? So while it's not related to the school's athletic performance (or lack thereof), it can be directly impactful to the program, in a positive way.I’m going to guess it has more to do with the fact that regular employees and professors are pissed off that a guy that doesn’t have enough skill to flip burgers is currently being paid a million dollars a year to do nothing more so than anything to do with athletics.
Pope can’t be that stupid.so how long until Pope tweets something out in support of Mitch?
You are right. Folks on campus are not happy about things. Then for Eli to say there will be cuts and then asking for money.I’m going to guess it has more to do with the fact that regular employees and professors are pissed off that a guy that doesn’t have enough skill to flip burgers is currently being paid a million dollars a year to do nothing more so than anything to do with athletics.
Anon42069What do you think Andy's screenname is on here?
While he might be right, AB loves him some big government.
Finally! Get these clowns out of here.Well things just got really interesting for Barney & Eli.
If the Governor pressured hard enough with funds or potential investigations they would fire the whole lot of them in a heartbeat.Pardon my ignorance. I understand that Kentucky is a state funded school. What jurisdiction does the governor actually have over the university, if any at all? Does he have the power to override the board of trustees? Can the governor fire Dr. Eli Capilouto ? How do these things even work?
SameI am by no means a fan of the governor. I can put my personal feelings aside. If he can step in and fix this **** show that we are witnessing. He’s got my full support on this issue.
He probably too sacred to show his little head right now after whiffing on an entire high school and portal class.so how long until Pope tweets something out in support of Mitch?
Van Tatenhove’s conservative beliefs and rulings are probably diametrically opposite 99% of the UK faculty. He also ruled against Beshear on at least one occasion in a case involving Beshear’s Covid executive orders.Who’s got the scoop on the law school dean? I’ve read the articles indicating that the faculty opposed the appointment on the grounds of qualifications and tenurability, but why did the administration appoint him anyway? What are the politics behind the choice?
I thought the same thing when I saw the OP. This is nuts, and, also, gives me a glimmer of hope in these dark times at UK... I only wish the statement made it 100% clear he's talking about Mitch's new job. Who knows what other phony positions are being created. There's no way that's real
Hope he’s not swimmin with the fishes…Wonder what Brett Setzer has been up to lately. He's been kind of quiet.
He has already tweeted about it. Saying the Meeting will be interesting.Hope he’s not swimmin with the fishes…
Thank you. I suspected something like this was at play. But what I don’t understand is, how did he get the appointment? I wasn’t aware that the present UK administration, which presumably made the hire, was so amenable to conservative influence. (Forgive me if that’s obvious; I live out of state and hadn’t been keeping up with the university’s politics.)Van Tatenhove’s conservative beliefs and rulings are probably diametrically opposite 99% of the UK faculty. He also ruled against Beshear on at least one occasion in a case involving Beshear’s Covid executive orders.
Never thought I’d be in favor of giving him a callSomeone needs to drag Jerry Tipton out of retirement. He’d have a field day with this era of UK bs.
do not pass go, do not collect $200 ....Waiting for Mitch to respond that the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is a “knucklehead” who is “spewing ridiculous garbage”.
Mitch Barnhart and Eli Capilouto are nothing short of CRIMINALS, folks.
