Correct. Pretty much every one of the 50+ college head coaches I've talked to over the last 6-7 years talked about culture and environment. Didn't matter if it was the Iowa staff or a D3 coach, they all use pretty much the same buzz words.
I’d probably say she’s going to Wisconsin.
She never met a shot she didn’t like and still missed it. She can go suck at Wisconsin. Same as Deal. Couldn’t make a shot to save her life minus one game this season. She is no five star based off of what I saw. Telegraph passes and a turnover machine.

She had some really ****** luck as a Hawkeye, and I hope things go much better for her both on and off the court as a Badger
I just don't think Deal needs to be looked at in a bad light. She's clearly a product of the current situation. All her career people have been telling her how good she is. (part of that was the grooming by her parents probably holding her back at a young age so she was always 1 to 1 1/2 years older then the kids she played against. Then she gets the 5star ranking and the bag-o-cash. Then agents take over, and tell her she's getting a raw deal, and needs to hold out for better playing time and $$ elsewhere. I think her inner circle has as much to do with this as her being a "me first" kid.
Did not realize she was always 1 to 1 1/2 years older when playing youth ball etc. That would definitely make a difference. Personally wish she would have stayed but agree about parents and agent.
I think you are 100% correct. She definitely never came a cross as a me first person..ever. Wished she would of told her parents that it was her life and stuck it out as a hawk, she seems like a great kid. I'm still a little bitter I guess, I can kinda be petty at times
I don't take you as petty. I think we are ALL adjusting to the new "reality" of college athletics. Players, coaches, families and yes even us lowly fans, who have no say in the matter but many of us invest a lot of emotion and care into these teams that represent our school. I think we (the fans especially) are a bit taken aback by this transient and mercenary new world. Its so unlike the one we grew up watching "our" players through their recruitment and their 4-5 years as Hawks. Each year we knew the players who would be returning and watched them grow in their roles. So much has changed and we're all still adjusting.I think you are 100% correct. Teagan was quoted, “I never wanted to transfer … but at the end of the day, it was best for me to leave... After communicating with the coaches about getting workouts in and developing myself, I didn’t feel like that was followed through well enough.”
Her mom was quoted, “She needed the change. It was just not a good fit.”
Whatever the family felt, this article communicated disappointment more than anything else.
Certainly every player starts out heading to college thinking they're going to get their shot. They've pretty much always been the best player on the teams in the past. Then some adversity hits and then on a yearly basis the coach is trying to recruit better players then the ones currently on the roster, (which is their job). My youngest was an all metro player in KC and ALWAYS the best player on every team he played on. We looked at a bunch of schools trying to find a good fit, both academically, and where the team had a need for his skills. His first year he played behind a NAIA AA player. The following year they recruited over him and that young man ended up a two time NAIA AA. The only game my son started in college was his senior night, after starting four years in high school every game from 9th grade -senior year, and being all district and all conference all four years. It took him until his junior year in college to find his niche, As a senior he was the 6th man and he played both guard and wing spots. 1-3. and it allowed his coach to keep all his backcourt players rested , and he got about 20-22 minutes a game. His team won their first conference championship in 15 years and made the NAIA elite 8. Largely because of the depth of their bench and the roles they all played. Probably not the path he would have chosen, but in the end he grew a great deal as a young man. This was 2004-08 though. We're in a different time now in college athletics, and the players and their families are just as confused as we are.
Well, plenty of parents with DI athletic kids go thru this every year. Obviously money is a factor these days, but I presume she could have went to Wisconsin right away. Instead she chose a winning program and hoped she could get a lot of playing time, which didn't ultimately happen for various reasons. So now she's closer to Home, will most likely get a lot more playing time, and might not ever play in the postseason. There's trade-offs to all of this. You make choices throughout life and you live with them, same as everyone.
The young lady went thru a lot this year, I hope she does well and everything pans out over time for her.
I really had high hopes for Teagan when she arrived at Iowa, I thought she really had a lot of potential, She had some misfortune with injuries and illness and being totally honest I felt sometimes she was pulled too quickly if she made a turnover or just a bad play while others seemed to be given a longer leash. With that said another reality is when you are competing with other players you have to maximize your opportunities, Journey was a prime example of a player that did exactly that, She came in and made an impact, It didn’t have to be scoring, It was hustle plays, Getting boards, Etc, It’s hard to think of many times Teagan came in and made a real impact on a game. Her shooting was not good and that’s being kind. The reality is Journey earned minutes over Teagan.
I hope a fresh start at Wisconsin works out well for her and her game progresses, And I hope Iowa continues to kick Wisconsin’s butt.

Teagan had the incredible misfortune of being injured at the exact wrong time. Hopefully she has these misfortunes behind her, and good things start to happen. Will be pretty wild playing against her and Addie next winter.
