What a horrible day for a Nebraska football fan. But it didn’t compare to what Brook and Toby’s family went and are still going through. It was going to be such a special night with the ring ceremony to celebrate the Natty and Sawyer Brown playing the Nebraska song.
Had such a great future ahead of him. Could have been a NFL QB. Sad.

Would expect more out of Huskers fans on this post, but than again I question some who pretend to be Husker fans.

He was a really special guy and played a big part in our run of dominance. Spoke to some people who knew him on a personal level and they only had great things to say about him. Super nice guy, humble and approachable.

Not really sure what you expect. I will always remember Brook, before and while he was a Husker. I lived in Goodland and watched Brook play. I picked up Ron Brown at the air port when he came to watch Brook play basketball on a recruiting trip and later sat with Tom at another game when Brook was playing. I was at Brook's signing where there were mostly family and a few friends. His own HS coach who actually changed the offense to take advantage of Brooks skills questioned if he would ever play at Nebraska. I also knew Brooks mother Jan and we had several conversations in later years prior to me leaving Goodland. The field house where his service was held was a block from our home and I watched the bus loads of players stream out with somber heads lower as they entered the field house and all of us heard Turner Gill speak about Brook and his relationship with Jesus Christ. The memory of Brook is not lost, nor is his life in Christ. Time has a way of allowing some memories to fade but my memories of Brook are not forgotten. I read this post when first made and it made my heart sink and I had no intentions to share as someone will make some comment. Oh well, I just remember Brooks stopping at a table in the Pizza Hut on his way out to say hi and tell me things were going well at Nebraska. That was the kind of kid he was, I was a no body but he was kind and considerate.

I was back home in Goodland visiting my parents, and I saw him at the Cowboy Loop convenience store. He graciously signed my Husker hat, and visited a short time about Husker football. He didnt have to, but was very kind and polite. He didn’t know me from Adam.

The class and grace we saw during the Tommie-Brooke situation was so important and is legendary.. BB was way beyond his years in maturity and representing the school. Something tells me he wouldn't transfer out in today's landscape. A true gem.

Brook was a good dude. So much so, he seemed a bit surreal; almost like a super hero. He was mature beyond his years; he was grounded and was an amazing and decent human being. The world needs more people like him - not in sports - but simply in general.

The world sucks and I know life isn't fair but to this day I question God's plan for taking people like Brook. He deserves to be among us.

Could you imagine what he could have done at QB these days at Nebraska? Yes, the talent around him not close to being as good as 93, 94, 95, but he could do a lot just by himself as well as making those around him better.
