Everyone is either frustrated or resigned to reality at this point… maybe both.
My biggest fear was Pope wouldn’t be able to piece together a team talented enough to overcome his shortcomings as a coach. He’s trying to grow on the job… not here. Won’t work.
What I do hope, barring some unforeseen recruiting miracles, is that we root on the team that does wear the jersey next year while fully aware that it’s on Pope. No need to boo next season unless no effort. This case will likely be closed by conference play.
Seriously, this is on Pope. He knew he needed a GM and decided to try to use the genius of Mark Fox and some new dude who was the film guy for a freaking G League team to work as a defacto roster building guru while not having a key assistant role filled yet. Look, this is 1000% on the control freak that’s Mark Pope.
Simple… he either does something crazy good or this is entire experiment is all over in about 10 months. I love the guy and hate it for him, but the job needs to be done exceptionally well. That’s not happening.
