Spencer is gaining ground and in good position to be the next Mayor of LA.

He is of course running on the total mismanagement of the Palisades fire situation by democratic government. He is also tackling the street crime and homeless problems. He also recently got a huge boost from the Joe Rogan Show last week.

Spencer is talking all common sense, and I think he will win.

What do all of those tax dollars go to pay for anyway?

Yes, it's largely true—the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently operating at or near its lowest sworn staffing levels in roughly 30 years (since around the mid-1990s), based on recent reports and projections.

police1.com
Current Staffing LevelsAs of early-to-mid 2026:
  • Recent figures show around 8,677 sworn officers (as of about a week before mid-April 2026 reports), described as the lowest in nearly 25 years.

    police1.com
  • Earlier 2025–early 2026 numbers hovered in the 8,700–8,738 range, with some reports citing ~8,711 in January 2026.

    foxla.com
  • Projections from the FY 2026 budget (released in early 2025) warned that attrition and recruiting shortfalls could drop the force to about 8,620 officers by June 30, 2026—the lowest since ~1995.

    latimes.com
This continues a steady decline since a peak of over 10,000 officers around 2009–2019. The department has lost hundreds (over 1,300–1,500 since 2019 in some estimates) due to higher attrition, retirements, and recruiting challenges that haven't kept pace.Historical Context
  • In the mid-1990s (e.g., during the Richard Riordan era), staffing was in a similar range before a major buildup.
  • It rose significantly afterward, hitting highs near or above 10,000.
  • By 2023, it had already fallen below 9,000 for the first time in decades.

    nbclosangeles.com
  • Multiple sources (LA Times, Police1, RAND assessments) explicitly describe the projected or current lows as the lowest in ~30 years or since 1995.

    latimes.com
Important Caveats
  • "Currently" depends on exact timing and metrics: Actual numbers fluctuate with academy graduations, retirements, and hires. Hiring efforts continue (e.g., City Council approvals for additional recruits in 2025–2026), and some reports note modest stabilization or slight gains in 2025 before further projected drops. The department has authorized strength around 8,700–9,000 but often falls short of deployable patrol goals due to absences, restrictions, and non-field assignments.
  • Sworn officers vs. deployable staff: Total sworn headcount includes those in admin, training, or on leave—not all are on the streets. Some critiques note that effective patrol staffing feels even thinner.
  • Broader trends: This aligns with national law enforcement staffing challenges post-2020, though LAPD's issues have been acute amid budget pressures, recruitment hurdles, and city politics.
In short, the claim holds up based on official projections, budget documents, and news coverage from outlets like the LA Times and Police1. The department and Mayor Karen Bass have highlighted the need for more officers (e.g., for the 2028 Olympics), but recruiting has struggled despite efforts to speed up hiring. If you're looking for the absolute latest official figure, checking LAPD's Police Commission reports or the city's budget updates would give the most current snapshot.

His sister, Stephanie Pratt, has publicly criticized his mayoral bid, describing it as a publicity stunt to sell his memoir.

Maganites are drawn to make believe TV like moths to a lit candle
You think the current Mayor is doing a good job?

That's the thing, y'all make fun of our candidates but look at the people y'all have in office. All they have to do is a mediocre job and people will go about there day and pay their taxes while being quiet.

But they suck so bad and do such a poor job that it forces washed up TV stars to speak up and run for office.

Spencer freakin Pratt is going to be the next Mayor of LA and that is the best news coming out of California since The Hills TV show.

I know nothing about Spencer Pratt, but I have to believe his sister does. Her comments were not supportive.

Do you know him better than his sister?

I'm going to be honest, I don't care what she has to say. If she has better ideas and wants to run for office then she should do so.

Do you think it's a good thing that LA has the lowest number of policemen in 30 years?

Did they have a drop off after the ICE actions?

Homicides are at a 60 year low.

Remind me again why she’s such a disaster? Is it because you saw a clip of a bunch of junkies in a park?

FWIW, I dont think she is a good mayor but I just want you to provide some evidence other than an attention starved broke reality tv star yelling at a camera.

She's a disaster because she let the palisades burn down. Maybe that's good for Democrat DEI standards.

This DEI ******** again.... Fatpiggy does not know what DEI is and just uses it for every single minority hire or elected official.

Apparently, no minority should ever get a job or be hired, it's always DEI and racist against white people.

Was not much of the fire attributable to actions that affected water supply by the trump administration?

There was enough available water but the ferocious Santa Ana winds combined with one of the most severe droughts(over a nine month period) in history were the reasons it got so out of control. Mother Nature can be a b and you can't always control her. Not a damn thing to do with Karen Bass.

the dipshit from Laguna Beach is running for office?
And fools like you believe Newsom has been a good governor. It proves your total lack of honesty. Hey everyone, stay locked in, I'm heading to the French Laundry. And not one of you called this hypocrisy out. The same who supported the old bat telling folks to go out and visit Chinatown, Pelosi. Get lost.

Why? She was and is, and absolute failure regarding the fires. Wasn't even there. Furthermore, like DC, who Bowser gave credit to the federal response on crime, also had a major impact. Study up, pup.

She let the palisades burn down. You really believe that.
She wasn't even in the GD state. Taxpayers paid for her trip to Ghana. She was, and is, clueless. How many homes have been rebuilt? Get a fking clue. 7000 thousand homes were lost, and only 10 have been rebuilt, with only 900 under construction. Keep defending the indefensible. Meanwhile, corporations are running in to buy the land. Let me give you a clue. 40% of the land, where homes previously existed have already been bought by corporations. Y'all have no damn clue regarding your party. It's simply party over country.

Spencer Pratt is infinitely better than any Democrat in CA right now. That’s how sad the Democratic Party is out there.

That’s what catastrophic mismanagement gets you.

This kind of subhuman thinking is what got you Trump ... the mob boss wannabe dictator felon who is grifting billions upon billions as he destroys our Constitution, our alliances and our standing in the world.

Take an imperfect political figure ... say they're the worst thing ever ... then promote an absolute verifiable train wreck ... an actual abomination ... completely incompetent ... and say they're better.

Pratt has never had a real job ... he's made a living on reality TV. He faked a divorce to try to help his wife's career (also as a reality TV star). He's doing this to try to jumpstart his career, as well. He has no abilities in this field, he doesn't want to be in this field, he's a legitimately bad person ... and you're like "hey, I'm a total loser and a troll ... so he's the perfect candidate for me."

Actually, California is now #4. We just passed Japan. Try keeping up, Captain Houseboat.

Meanwhile, here is a picture of you and your Orange Demigod. You sure do love the Kool-Aid.

They think it’s ok to live like that.
