Hopefully we are not taking him at all
Well unfortunately this is the current state of Iowa wrestling. I'm not okay with it either but it seems he's likely the best option. All those who think the current staff is the best option to get back on top really shouldn't complain about things like this (not saying you fall in that group, just talking in generalities).

Kind of annoying that when Iowa wresting is involved in a transfer battle that the only thing ever mentioned is money vs “other supposed good reason”.

it couldn’t possibly be that Zepeda is interested in wresting in front of 15k or for a program that has tradition, or a program that consistently finishes above Michigan.

As though Michigan is only paying him with the love of his family. It’s such a stupid and tired narrative. Low hanging fruit and lazy thought process.

And the fact that most know Michigan has $ and pays fair market value makes the narrative hilarious

I don’t disagree with anything you say.

however this is the perception of Iowa wrestling and TnT don’t particularly seem to care about the perception (I’m not saying this is good or bad).

As if Michigan doesn’t pay just as much as us. The narrative the public constantly pushes is when we land someone it’s all due to a large Bag. Crazy, it comical at this point .
Iowa allegedly offers a guy $200K
Wrestling media- “where there’s smoke there’s fire”

Starocci brags about being the highest paid wrestler
Ira says he paid over $1M
Someone says Starocci made $1.3M his last year
Wrestling media- “just stop it, you think he’s getting paid that much, get real”

I believe recruits aren't bamboozled by this narrative. Much more to Iowa University and Hawk wrestling. Many good academic programs, new facility, coaches, current and former wrestlers, fans and Carver just to mention a few.

Sealey's losses say he isn't special.

But he also isn't getting those big time matches that allow you to make jumps. If he stays, would be cool to see if he could pull a Whitmer.
Even if he’s not special, he would be our best option at this time.

The former NC State wrestlers would have remained at NC State if they wanted a below market deal. Comments related to VRob are especially comical. Nebraska is struggling to get their NIL deals approved by the CSC but Nebraska fans think VRob's move to Lincoln is a charitable endeavor.

Ya him and Mark Hall are pretty much it. This was aimed at Cunningham, Snyder, Retherford, Varner for being frontrunning cowards.
What a terrible take. Cowards for what? Staying with the program and/or coach that made them who they are? Beating literally everyone that's come before them? What makes them cowardly? It's certainly not from talking crap from behind a computer screen...

You think Carl/PSU made Snyder and Cunningham?

Willie mentioned on his pod today that Crookham might not wrestle this year with having surgery and all. Nasir back to 33? If that happens

LOL no.

Luckily only a sliver of the overall wrestling fan base reads that drivel.

Seems like Shaw is auditioning for a job with Mineo.

Nailed it.

Agree, but next year is supposed to be a make or break year for Tom, so I’m sure he’s pulling out all the stops. I’m sure he took one last swing at getting AJ on the team and failed. I personally think they will let him finish out his last few years on his contract no matter what results, but if he can turn it around next year and year after, I see a nice extension with continued raises.

Would rather have Nasir back at 141 if hands have improved, and just let Peterson see what he can do at 133. Maybe both are too big to be 133 now, but Nasir had tank problems at 141, would hate to see what 133 would do. So Crookham is going to be a one year rental also. I could see why he would only want to go one more year and use Uof I great PT department to rehab him a full year. Do we pay him a lesser amount for year one just using our rehab resources, then the big bag his senior year when he actually wrestles?

Highly doubt he is going to see a “nice entension” ever again no matter the results, as his time at Iowa has nearly run its course

Crookham would get a medical if he didn't go

So we will still have a hole next year at 133, but Crookham would never have to cut to 133 again if Kenny is ready as a true freshman. If Peterson can’t make the cut it’s Jace Rhoads then or a very small Joey Cruz?

I am not sure what you mean by "turn it around next year and year after", but I think most see Iowa fighting for a trophy in March much like they have in the recent past. Ending up in 3rd to 6th is far more likely.

"Turning it around" and challenging for the top two spots at Nationals is probably a bridge too far if that is the threshold that you are using.
