Cheap. It's always about money with him. It was indeed stupid, but not shocking that he went with the cheaper and more "wholesome" appearing option.

If the rumors are true, that St. John’s is offering Freeman more money, that’s going to be catastrophic for CMP if he can’t pull a rabbit out of a hat and land Momcilovic or Graves.

Losing out on Rancik and Freeman will likely doom CMP. There’s no sugar coating this situation, that’s how badly we needed one of these players and the other options are not good enough.

But I cannot help but point out the irony if Pitino ends up knocking down the first the domino that ends up getting his former player fired with this move with Freeman.

I don't disagree, but no matter what happens it comes down to wins and loses..

You are correct until there is a salary cap of some sort, each year people are going to ask for more money. The longer guys stay in the portal, agents will use that to leverage more money as well.

There's going to be a cap because it's not salary. It's endorsements. Nor should anyone even try to cap it. They can't cap endorsements in the pros. The market will seek it's own level.

As for UK, Pope can spend whatever he wants. There is not a money problem causing UK recruiting woes.

I damn sure wouldn't pay top dollar for this guy. His last 2 seasons are riddled with injury problems.
If there is anyone else that is close to his level, I would pivot away from Freeman. Let Pitino overpay for him, then pay more for the next guy and make sure Freeman's camp finds out that we paid more for someone else.
