Ole Miss has been to 11 CWS and won a more recent national championship. I bet you don’t think they are one of the nation’s premier programs.
Ole Miss has only 6 CWS trips. At least you idiots could try and get your facts right to make your "arguments". And a "more recent" natty?? You mean like the very next year after ours?

You're right. I just assumed AI knew the correct answer on that very easy stat to look up. Still have as many championships as we do though. Exactly as another poster stated though. Champagne money with beer results.

Texas has been 38 times. Most of our fans think we are on that kind of level and we aren't.

"Ole Miss has appeared in the College World Series (CWS) 6 times. Their appearances occurred in 1956, 1964, 1969, 1972, 2014, and 2022, according to Wikipedia and NCAA.com. The Rebels won their only national championship in the 2022"

I knew that **** wasn't right as soon as I read it.

Got anymore BS you wanna toss at the wall in a really strange effort to prove MSU ain't all that.

Of course Texas is a premier program. The fact that we don't quite measure up doesn't mean we're not in the discussion. We certainly support our premier program better than they do from a fan perspective.

And you might want to do a little research to understand why they have so many appearances. It's not all excellence. The way CWS berths were handed out in the old days was regionally biased. Ever notice how you never see Maine in the CWS anymore??

Yeah. I was being sarcastic about WBB, but our tenis isn’t as close to as popular. ESPN is, however obligated to show tenis.

Because it was the SEC Tennis Championship today dumbasş.
ESPN is not “obligated” to show tennis over baseball. The SEC’s media rights deal with ESPN gives ESPN/SEC Network the right to choose what they air. They prioritize based on viewership potential ect- not some contractual mandate that forces them to air tennis championships over baseball games.

Today’s SEC Tennis Championship got the linear TV slot while our baseball game got pushed to SEC+ streaming just like most baseball games do. That’s not obligation- that’s ESPN making a business decision about what they think will draw eyes- and that is the whole point. Not even the jihadists cared to stream today’s baseball game on YouTube.

Calling people “dumbass” for pointing out the TV reality doesn’t change the numbers. A more mature moderator would know that. You’re not mad at me. You’re mad that the networks are quietly admitting what the numbers already show- that baseball isn’t moving the needle nationally while other sports are. While a more mature moderator would this, I guess a dumbass moderator wouldn’t.

It's not all about how has the best deep history anyway:

  • USC has the most national titles with 12, but the most recent are in 1978 and 1998. They have the 4th most appearances in the CWS with 21, but haven't done anything in over 20 years. Nobody is calling them a "premier program."
  • Arizona State has has 5 titles and 21 CWS appearances, but haven't even won a Regional since 2011 and have missed it 6 times since then. No longer "premier."
  • Oklahoma State is tied with LSU with 20 CWS appearances, and while they've been a better program than USC over the last 20 years, no one is putting them on a "premier" tier.
  • Cal State Fullerton has 4 titles and 18 CWS appearances, but they've only even made the tournament once since 2018. 10 years ago they were obviously a "premier" program, but unless an MLB alum decides to just fund them out of his own pocket, they're going to go the way of Rice and Wichita State and no longer be a "premier program" in anyone's eyes.
  • Minnesota has 3 national titles and Michigan has 2, but who cares?
  • Oregon State only has 8 CWS appearances, but I think we'd all list them as "premier" based on the last 20 years.

If I'm limited to 10 "premier" programs, I'm saying these in no certain order:
  • Arkansas
  • Florida
  • Florida State (iffy)
  • LSU
  • Miami (iffy)
  • Mississippi State
  • Ole Miss
  • Oregon State
  • Texas
  • Virginia (looks like they will survive without O'Connor)
You can make an argument for Vanderbilt over Miami or Florida State, and they definitely would be there, arguably #1, in 2019, but I'm not sure anymore.

Tennessee was about to get there, but without Vitello, probably won't. South Carolina was there 15 years ago, but have done very little since then. UCLA has had great years, but not enough consistency. Louisville had a good run in the 2010s but also not consistent enough.

I apologize. You’re not a dumbasş you’re just a clown who loves attention. Why else would anyone create two usernames and then talk back and forth to yourself.
I use two usernames because I deal with some pretty heavy mental health stuff- bipolar and schizophrenia issues that make some days a lot harder than others. One account is for when I’m stable and typing normally, the other is for the days when my brain is racing or my hands aren’t cooperating and I have to use other methods.

Calling me a clown for managing a medical condition I didn’t choose was a pretty low blow. Especially coming from the same moderator who banned me for making a light joke about Erika Kirk fake crying.

You’re quick to silence jokes about Erika Kirk but then turn around and personally attack someone’s mental health struggles. I believe you are a self appointed moderator just so you can bully others online. Does it make you feel tough?

First time, long time...

Do these critics genuinely believe that funding the baseball program is what’s preventing the football team from reaching top-fifteen status?
How many impact players could an extra $5+ million every year buy or retain? How about $8-10 million?

They also have 2 national titles in baseball to our 1. So not spending on baseball seems to be working out for them.
They used to spend money on baseball.
USCe went 4 and 8 last year. That's what you're going to see from them for a while. And being a contender isn't enough in WBB. You have to win it all to minimize the loss you incur.

They suck.
thats what you get when you hire a baseball coach for your athletic director.

A “low blow” for a condition he didn’t know about.

I'm going to suggest choosing not to constantly bring up and comment on a subject that is unpopular with basically all the baseball fans on the board would be helpful in your mental health struggles by fostering some goodwill from many of us.

It's not like we're unclear about how you feel on the subject and I'm pretty sure we've heard all your arguments.

Yes you did. And you’re embarrassed about it now, and I get that. I told you before there were no hard feelings from me. But now you called me a dumbass and a clown. So I take back what I said. You’re an online bully and a jerk. You’re probably a big wuss in real life.

The reason it’s brought up is because people like you and the baseball cult here are the ones that have always actively held the entire athletic department hostage- while at the same time expected football- to keep subsidizing it forever. Then you get mad when someone points out the obvious math.

Of course it’s “unpopular” with you and the baseball fans. Who wants to hear that their sacred cow is a money pit? Gatekeepers gonna gatekeep.

If that makes the baseball cult uncomfortable then good. Let’s all stop pretending protecting losing programs is loyalty. It’s just sabotage to the entire athletic program and it’s future with a better logo (M over S).

Did you play in the rugby alumni match last weekend? My son played for the Mad Dogs and scored three times.
I would love to have shown the young pups what 65 can still do from a rugby player who cut his teeth in the 70's, 80's and early-90s.

But, alas, I now live in Cali., so getting back isn't that easy. Maybe some day, before arthritis completely cripples me.

If you compare the last 10 years, there is not that much difference between Mississippi State and Coastal Carolina baseball, except for the money spent.

Nobody here thinks we are some elite juggernaut. We are about a top 15 program in baseball.
