Same reason we struggle to compete with Wichita State in basketball NIL $$ They don't have football. They do have baseball but that is not as NIL heavy as football.
Yes, and while Wichita St also has no football, they have an even larger enrollment of over 5 times ours. But I still beleve the rankings of the two institutions, the prestige of the two instituions, and the catholic affiliation of Depaul says there is just as much money and likely more supplied by Depaul alumni over Wichita St.

According to the Tulsa World this morning we have a locally based and owned private company here worth 11 Billion. I wish they had TU connections like FedEx and Memphis.
Burt and Chet III as alumni qualifies does it not? Daddy II is an OU alumni though. If you do the math though, fed ex gives 5m per year to Memphis athletics. They are a 91B company. Proportionally that would equal a 600K donation to the TU ethletic dept. per year.

FedEx has done a lot more than just $5 million per year for Memphis. The late FedEx CEO Fred Smith was willing to pay whatever it took to get Memphis to move up to a power conference. He was very public in his support of Memphis athletics. I can’t recall any local businessman promoting TU to the level he promoted Memphis.

No it isn't. SMH They don't have d1 football and basketball. They have an enrollment at least 4.5 times bigger than us, meaning they have a larger alumni base. They have been around just as long as we have. They are the largest Catholic University in the US. Why would we be expected to support football and basketball at a higher level than they support basketball?
Because it is what’s required to have consistent success in this era. If you can’t fend off schools like DePaul the only players you keep are ones that good teams don’t want

He entered the portal, he wanted more money than we were willing to offer. Depaul met that demand. End of story.

We weren't competing with a better or worse program, we were competing with money. He decided he wanted more money. Depaul wasn't the only team vying for him. Do Kansas & Missouri suck too, because they were recruiting him along with Depaul? Silly argument that Depaul is a crap program that we lost to. Through talking about this.

I don’t think there’s much reason to get heated about this

I didn’t know Behrend left too, but he sure did
Bill Haisten disagrees.

On Tuesday, there was the social-media report that TU reserve and hustle specialist Myles Rigsby has decided to remain on the Hurricane roster. Also expected to return is center Tyler Behrend, who is among the most improved players in college basketball.

I really wasn't. I realize that last sentence is usually said in a more exasperated tone. In this case it wasn't.

I just meant I had made a few comments about it, and I was through going over hallowed or unhallowed ground.

I am also not sure how I feel about getting a guy from the worst team in the league last year. With UTSA last year he was 35 percent from the field, which was 8th best on that team, 33 percent from 3 point, which was 5th best on that team and 74 percent from the line which was 4th best on that team. I think we could have done better.

Look at his % from the last half and/or last 10 games. Also look at his stats appropriate to defense.

I was looking at some stuff on recruiting and I ran across on3's ranking of transfers in and out.

So far with Depaul's ranking on players in and out, they are ranked the #8 team in the country.

On just players coming in they are ranked #5. They have 5 signings.

In advanced stats, Moss from UTSA, is of similar caliber player as Romad Dean. Similar style defensive player too.

Per Evan Miya, Moss is the best player from the UTSA team. He’s a good add, but not someone I’d expect to be a starter.

Until we have a Hollywood coach with connections and charisma we aren't atttacting donations or players like other schools.

I don't blame the kids, got to get that cash while you can.

TU a little slow out of the starting gate, but the finish line is what counts.
Yeah, it is getting a little late, given the results so far...Since NIL started, I look for the
level of recruiting activity YTD and look at the calendar, trying to find a little comfort in
one or the other...Neither look very good right now...

We may not be, but we look to be behind in recruiting both numbers and size.....

We neeed to sign at least a couple of three players pronto just to be a little behind.
Extra slow rolling seems to be the theme round these parts. That said I am hearing there might be some kind of ruling or rule change that might effect the portal and the players in it. No confirmation yet but it might be something
