Two weeks ago Raven gave an interview where she said that the “wave off” and subsequent backlash of Iowa fans calling her a monkey on social media caused her to nearly give up the sport (recall this is the same incident that in this very thread we’ve been asked why we should care since it happened three years ago). This was two weeks ago. Seemed like a message to the Fever not to draft her. Maybe she really doesn’t harbor any ill will towards CC, but she absolutely does toward CC’s Stans. Guess what? Most of them are Fever fans now. Do you think she looked happy last night? I don’t think she wants any part of the social media microscope/circus that will come with being paired with CC. If you’re the Fever front office, why even mess with this potential drama? I don’t think this will end well. My take anyway, fwiw.
Does that mean that its front of mind for her , or was she forced to answer a question put to her about something that happened 3 years ago? She won't be playing with Caitlins fans either, so. Regardless. This is CC22's team, she's smart enough to know that.

I have never seen a front office have a perfect record on getting players.
Street goes both ways, too. They rolled out the red carpet for Bonner and she didn't even try once it was clear she didn't mesh. She quit on the team. Front office can't really predict a 6x all start vet would just bail once things got tough.

I think at that point Dantas and Mitchell were the only ones with more than 2 or 3 years of league experience. Bringing in Tash/Colson/Bonner was supposed to help the team leadership. Even though Tash didn't mesh well with Clark, she still tried to make it work.

Wow. Wonder what CC22 has coming her way next year? Probably means this is the last season for Mitchell in Indiana..
That’s probably a good thing for Indiana in the long run if the plan is to keep CC. Mitchell is a great shooter and scorer, but her defensive issues at SG, next to CC’s defensive issues, cause issues for the team. They really need a 3 and D SG running alongside CC.

I also feel that some of these teams throwing out the 20% of the cap multi-year contracts to players are going to regret it in the future considering the hard salary cap. Two of those on a team and you’ve got almost half your salary committed to 2 players, with needing at least 9 more players on the roster.

There’s a few players like Aja, Steward, etc. that are worth that. But there’s been a lot of money thrown around towards players that don’t deserve that much when considering the salary cap.

And they just signed Boston to the largest "overall" contract in WNBA history. Like 6.5 million I believe. They better back up the Brinks truck to keep Clark in the fold. Like you said that's a lot for two players so I'm pretty sure Mitchell will be taking her game elsewhere next season.

The fact that AB signed a four-year contact points to Caitlin staying and Kelsey going. I've always thought CC and AB will stay together for their entire careers - they're kinda bonded. I think Lexi will be there too. But, I'd like to see Stephanie White and her buddy Briann January take a hike.

Agree on all counts. I think that's the move and surround them with the best they can afford and young players. We've had one year of White, and it does seem like she'd like to keep the reins a little tighter on CC22, Still it was one VERY injured riddled year. Hopefully CC stays healthy and we'll see what White does when we get late in the season and playoffs, if she lets CC be CC22 or not.

That’s why in my little mind space Lisa Bluder is in my own HOF. She let Clark be Clark and I’m not so sure many coaches would allow that. How did that workout for the Hawkeyes, Clark, and women’s basketball in general?

True. Lisa, the coaches and the players did a great job managing "the circus" that revolved around Clark. As far as letting Clark be "CC22", I think she was smart enough to know that was her only option. We didn't have the talent to be a final 4 team without Clark being other worldly in the biggest moments.

Are we ready for slow it down and pull Clark when they get some momentum? Hope it's different this year. White.
