I’ve got mixed feedback on this one but my personal opinion is it’s Rancik but would rather have Freeman.

Damn, saying Rancik is trash is next level dumb. I love what he brings with his size, skill and he has some dawg in him.
Think he will another big jump in his junior season and would be a nice piece in a UK uni.
I would just as soon have him to be honest.
I would like both, but you don't find too many bigs in college with his level of skill with the ball. His fundamentals are off the charts

Honestly, although Freeman is rated higher I really like Rancik for this team. I’m happy with either or obviously both, but I think Rancik’s game lends itself more to Pope’s offense. Freeman could be great, but his two injuries in the same foot are concerning and his efficiency declined last year when he was given more freedom. All that said, as a fan I’m not getting picky here. Either would be fantastic. I just give a slight edge to Rancik mostly due to the fit and lesser injury history.

Freeman is basically Carr offensively. (Lower conversion rate inside and just slightly worse from outside but grabs a couple more boards which should make it all balance out.) Won’t be a star but will be a serviceable workhorse. Looks better than Carr defensively. So a fine value just if we need him to be our star we’ll be in trouble.

I love this

Diallo - PG
Wilkins - PG/2G
Kam Williams - SF/2G
B Hawthorne - SF/PF
Rancik - PF
Moreno - C
Mason Williams - Frosh PG
Trent Noah - SF
Potter - C

Land Rancik and that looks pretty good.
That's a mid SEC roster at best, and maybe bottom half.

Diallo and Wilkins are good pickups but neither are strong 3pt shooters. Not even sure about their defense.

Kam was rough to watch most of the year and scored in double digits 4 times.

Noah was literally unplayable most of the year.

Potter and Hawthorne couldn't even play on last years shi tty team.

Freshman Williams is here because we wanted his dad and likely will need a couple of years to be a contributor.

Freeman would be our best player but has injury concerns.

Rancik would be a backup.

I imagine these two players having very different costs, which has me perplexed with MJ’s tweet a bit.

It might sound weird to say but if you told me we already had Stokes, I’d be much more pro Rancik. If you told me Stokes wasn’t coming, I’d be much more on the have to get another potential stud in Freeman.

This is my take as well. Rancik is a better fit and probably helps the team the most. Freeman is the better look to the national stage and casual fans due to his higher ranking. We get them both and they can play together when Moreno is out and one of them slides to the 5.

And we can certainly use both. We will need some big guys that can rebound to compete with the, “overload on big men, throw it up and go get it” trend.

Why can’t we have both with Moreno
Because neither wanna be a backup and you can’t play them both together. Have you not been paying attention? Potter is Morenos backup. He’s better than we all think. (Yeah, he’ll get bent in the SEC and anyone with a clue gets that)
