This group of HS kids is really bad after kids like Stokes. Christian Collins looked good. The other kid that looked ready physically was Colben Landrew, who is going to UConn. He's a man.
That's a talented trio, but two of those kids will be a lot to handle as a "nice guy" coach. Everyone knows about Stokes, but Freeman has had effort issues in the past and isn't known to be a team first guy. All I'm saying is Pope better recruit some strong leaders to keep guys in-line if he were to land Stokes and Freeman.
Oats was absolutely not asked. Hurley was never a serious option and Mitch knew that. He spent no time on it. Donovan only turned UK down for the NBA.
Mitch Barnhart would NEVER ask a guy like Oats. He blocks them, not asks them. Oats was recruiting a lot of the same guys and probably wanted to be asked but wasn’t. Oats put all that out there similar to Rick Barnes in 2007. Nobody asked but Rick made sure he turned it down for media clicks. Oats was never asked that is a fact and the guy who said this would absolutely know 100%.
He might was never asked but he said he wasn't interested when the job came open. I remember that.
