They've rolled it out to the pad.

BBC >> Nasa's Artemis Moon rocket rolls back to pad for possible April launch

The 98m tall Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft made a four mile journey from their assembly building to Pad 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Now at the pad, engineers will spend several days checking that the repairs carried out in the VAB have worked as intended and that nothing has shifted during the slow journey out. They will plug the launch tower back into the vehicle, run pressure tests on the helium system that caused the earlier problem.

Once those tests are complete, Nasa's mission management team will meet a few days before the earliest launch opportunity on 1 April to review the data and decide whether to proceed.

I hope II goes-off soon and trouble free......

at the same time, SLS seems to remain in long-term trouble - overall.

They were talking with an ex-astronaut and asked him about the “25” patch on his jacket. That signifies how fast they were coming in during re-entry (mach 25). He said these guys coming in today will be going about mach 32.

Didn’t hear the boom and couldn’t see anything because of the marine layer unfortunately. We also get a SpaceX launch in a few hours

Psalms 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims his handiwork"
That's called a hint....

von Braun said it not me. I trust the architect of the Saturn V rocket over today's clown show. He is saying we can't go....

The word "firmament" in that Bible verse obviously just refers to the sky and outer space in general, it's not claiming that there is a physical wall in the sky. Also, "today's clown show" just proved that the idea of a physical barrier trapping us on Earth is complete nonsense. I can't believe that in 2026 there are grown adults that actually believe this stuff, completely disregarding literally centuries of human progress and learning.

Great work Mr. President!
The Biden administration played a crucial role in the program's continuity, execution, and funding during key milestones, including the successful Artemis I and II missions.
  • Political Continuity and Support: Early in his term, President Biden's administration explicitly decided to continue the Artemis program, avoiding the common trend of new administrations cancelling the previous one’s space initiatives. This commitment provided stability for both NASA and its commercial partners.
  • Budgetary Support and Funding: The Biden administration has consistently requested substantial funding for Artemis in its annual budget proposals, including an $8.1 billion request for the program in FY2024, which helped advance the development of the Space Launch System (SLS) and the Orion capsule.
  • International Partnerships: The administration continued to expand the Artemis Accords, a coalition of over 33 nations aimed at sustainable and safe space exploration, which strengthens the diplomatic success of the program.
  • Milestone Execution: While planning began earlier, Artemis I (2022) and the Artemis II crewed lunar flyby (April 2026) launched and succeeded under the Biden administration’s oversight.
  • Crew Selection: The four-person crew for the Artemis II mission was selected and announced during the Biden Administration
  • Ultimately, the Biden administration is largely recognized for fostering continuity and providing the funding necessary for the program to transition from planning to flight.

Another fact is when Obama was in office he had an indirect role
Barack Obama’s primary, though indirect, role in the Artemis program was restructuring NASA’s future exploration path by canceling the Constellation program and advocating for commercial partnerships, which ultimately led to the development of the Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion capsule components. He signed the 2010 NASA Authorization Act, directing the creation of the SLS rocket
The NASA Authorization Act of 2010 directed NASA to create a new heavy-lift rocket, which became the Space Launch System (SLS), largely reusing shuttle components, which is now used for Artemis.
Obama pushed to involve private companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin through fixed-price contracts, a strategy intended to reduce costs and foster innovation, which now plays a significant role in future Artemis lander missions.

Former President Obama praised the crew and NASA, describing the mission as a "testament to human ingenuity" and bravery. He hailed the crew for traveling farther than anyone in history, calling it an inspiring step for future exploration.
  • Praise for the Crew: Obama applauded astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen for their bravery and for safely completing a "historic deep-space mission".
  • Significance of the Mission: He highlighted the high-speed re-entry (over 24,000 mph) and the safe splashdown as evidence of incredible technical accomplishment.
  • Inspiration for Future Generations: In a social media post, Obama mentioned it was inspiring to watch the launch, hoping it would inspire a new generation to look beyond what is possible.
  • Message to NASA: He praised NASA for taking the world along for the ride and for conducting a test mission that pushes the boundaries of human space travel

  • Commander Wiseman's Response: Writing from his personal handle, @astro_reid, Wiseman replied to Obama's Instagram post celebrating the crew's safe return.
  • The Message: "On behalf of myself, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy…. THANK YOU Mr. President!".
