Kudos to Rutgers!

The commitment of Christian Gurdack fills Rutgers biggest need for Rutgers next season’s roster and should be a solid improvement at the center position. With the retention of Francis, Mark, Buchanan and Davis and the addition of Smith and Gurdak a lot of pieces are coming together for next year’s team to be a very good team, which will face a lot of great teams in what Pikiel can now honestly describe as the best conference in the country!

this is good_-now maybe we can take the majority of the board off suicide watch.

From nj.com:

Gurdak is the 24th-ranked center and 310th-ranked prospect overall on the market according to Evan Miya, while 247Sports ranks him a four-star transfer that is the 19th-best center and 143rd best prospect in the portal.
Probably halfway there I think they’d like someone that can be a defensive presence whether that’s another center or a PF and then they’d be off the ledge

right now they are listening to the guy on the megaphone telling them to take a step back

It probably would preferable to thin the herd.

Looks like he got better as the season went on and his best game was against Virginia (17 points and 19 rebounds. The 19 rebounds was the most by any ACC player in a game last season.) Good signs
I saw those stats, very interesting.

VaTech beat #21 UVA in triple overtime, and Gurdak played 46 of 55 minutes, grabbing those 19 rebounds and scoring 17 points. Pretty good considering he was only about 15 games into his freshman year.

After that he averaged 18 minutes per game for the remaining 18 games of the year. That tells me that when given the chance to play many more minutes, he came through for them.

As a developing sophomore he could be ready for a big jump in production with us.

Good pickup.

À la Martini.
Nah it’s very different. This kid’s stats are from his true frosh season. Big difference. He also played on a team whose best player was a frontcourt player. High major pick up - got 18 mpg PT on a bubble team.

I have no idea where we are budget wise. Probably won’t have enough to grab the Hofstra kid too but that’d be an awesome pairing.

Not comparing his on court to Martini - it was the bball iq part. That was supposed to be his biggest selling point…oh and his 3 pt shooting.

Good get. Give us another shot blocking big. Not Maker of Depaul. And a 6’10 shooter that can play the 4 and spot 5 Duty.

First promising big man brought into the program since Omoruyi. Next years team is starting to come together. If they can get the guy from quinnipiac, a tall veteran pg and another big with shot blocking prowess, gm deserves some recognition.

Just the fact that next years team will include Gurdak makes them better than last year. Ogbole just started playing basketball for the first time in his life like 6 years ago.
Playing in a league like the Big Ten without a quality center when facing so many teams with really good and in some cases elite centers was incredibly difficult. Having a center like Gurdak should fill a glaring weak spot and should make this team much better!

Now we need another . Winning programs have been playing with 2 bigs. Michigan, Purdue , Michigan State. We need at least a Rim protector to complement Gurdak. Then Pike can go big or small . This was an excellent pickup but getting another would be really really good
