Irrelevant my A$$.
Phil Knight makes U of Oregon a very classy destination-
1 1/2 hour from Pacific Ocean or world Class Skiing.
Best Beer & Edibles on Earth.
Umm … i’m pretty sure that poster was talking about its relevance as a basketball destination, not a vacation spot.

And as a basketball destination, it is indeed historically fairly irrelevant.

Irrelevance is a total subjective interpretation historically. Tell the 1000’s of Kids who dream of playing all sports at Oregon that it’s irrelevant. Ky just got our football coach from Oregon & Mitch offered Pope’s job to the Ducks coach. Ky just tried to recruit the 2 Oregon Portal transfers. Seems that irrelevant is in the eye of beholder , they choice Louisville & V-Nova.
Oregon Gotta coach who has won over 900+ games as head coach.
Jasper is in good hands & playing in the Big10 will be good for him .

Barney got Brooks from Oregon his go to. When he doesn’t want to work. I don’t know what you’re talking about offering Pope’s job to Oregon coach but whatever.

A lot of people were glad he left, said he was overrated then it gets reported he's likely going somewhere that's nowhere near rival territory and somehow it still warrants bashing him to some.

There was speculation among Oregon fans & talking heads that Altman was a candidate for the Ky job because the Ducks were transitioning to the Big 10 & Altman had a fairly low buyout . Plus he announced in that timeframe that he was happy & staying at Oregon. We ll never know if Mitch truly reached out to him but there was plenty of speculation. I did not think he was a good fit for Ky & liked the WashSt coach a lot better - he took the STANFORD job.

Made me google Oregon basketball. Here’s a fun fact: Oregon made the Final Four in 1939 and again in 2017. This marks the longest span between appearances in NCAA history (79 years). Also worth mentioning that the floor in MKA is the worst in college basketball.

The right coach that develops young players will be getting a good one
You’re 100% correct. Most people on this board love to slam players. Yes he didn’t put on any muscle just like MM. But who is responsible for that? The COACHING STAFF! Who is responsible for developing players skills? The COACHING STAFF! Just watch what BG does next year at Bama. Double double player.

Oats has been coaching for 10 years and has never had a double double player. Highly doubt that BG is going to be that guy. Besides that, Jasper had two former football players as dad and uncle, pretty sure hitting the weights could have happened before he got to Uk. Jasper has to put in the work, the coaches can’t lift the weights for him.

I wouldn’t want Altman. Never been a big fan of him. All that Nike money and Oregon hasn’t done much. They might get there one day.

I like Jasper, I think he's a great kid, but UK really went out on a limb getting him instead of Braylon Mullins for more money, and then his family wants to trash the coaching staff. He was dealt a tough hand this year, having to play out of position in a very tough and physical league. UK couldn't pay him the same amount though. I mean if he would have taken half I think you could have brought him back as long as he stayed in the weight room all summer. He just wasn't ready to play here as a freshman.

I hate that it didn’t work out here for him. I think he has potential he just needs to put in work in the weight room and more experience against this level of competition.
It only didn’t work out on his head. He got far, far more playing time than he deserved and yet he came away from it feeling he wasn’t treated fairly.

The problem is purely his attitude. That’s the shame.

I’m not saying that to be mean. I wish he had stayed. I think he is capable of being very good eventually, but he’s not there yet and if he refuses to accept that he will never succeed.
