Yes they will. They will show massive income statement losses. Reportedly the 30 franchises had a combined net loss of $1.8 billion. A lot of this was caused by the collapse of local TV rights.

MLB will talk net income. MLBPA will talk capital appreciation.
And we know with the Braves that's also not true. They have income because of the The Battery there but also if you take that away.

Yeah I am sure that they all do some creative accounting to show losses, or at least to minimize income. Comes in handy both at tax time and at negotiation time.

  • 1962: Recorded a 17-game losing streak, the longest in franchise history.
  • 2004: Experienced an 11-game losing streak in August/September.
We're closing in.

Semien was well worth the trade. I don't think Nimmo could match Semien's offense or defense. ;)
Run prevention... of the offense.
By the time we reach September, this team may say, "62 Mets, hold my beer.":ROFLMAO:

Tuesday night home vs Twins could be a real 💩 show .
Disappointment is turning into anger and disdain for this team
Just got 3 different text from fellow Mets fan friends that are truly angry

Good. As long as there is anger, there is hope for the fan base. When anger turns to indifference, then the fan base will be harder to rebuild

How does the idiot Stearns explain away the Semien trade? Nothing over the last 2 years can justify trading Nimmo for this f*cker. Defense my @SS is trumped by ugly offense. His defense has been responsible for any "run prevention," but his lack of offense has been a rally killer. 🤬 Semien is every bit of 35.

You are correct about the "it's early" part. It is early. That cannot be denied.

Everything else, I am not sure where you are hearing or reading any of that, but I don't recall it in this thread.

It is still early, that is undeniably true.

These losses count as much as losses in September, that is also undeniably true.

I guess which one of these undeniably true facts you choose to emphasize, depends on whether you view the glass as half empty or half full. I am a glass half full guy, and make no apologies for it.

Does a good baseball team lose 9 games in a row at any time during the season? I think not. It’s April and there is a very long way to go but not very optimistic for a good year.

Semien is far from the scapegoat for the last 10 days. Nobody is doing anything.

The answer to your question is yes. The 2017 Dodgers had a 10 game losing streak. They won 104 that year.

This team will hit. They are not the 1927 Yankees, but they will hit enough. My concern is the back end of the rotation.

I picked on Semien because that was a Stearns move to unload Nimmo. Even Stevie Wonder could see Semien is not the player he once was. The last two years, Semien has been a liability at times. This is all on Stearns. I'm not all in for Nimmo, but get better value in the trade. As I've stated before, my dislike is all about Stearns. Stearns' decisions have been more bust than successful since his arrival as the GM/President.

RUN PREVENTION was on full display against the Chicago today.

Agreed there but I think Scott Wenninger Tong Thornton and we have enough to cover. Can make a trade also.

Obviously the losing streak is very disconcerting and the squad is digging themselves a hole but it is only April so the runway is a lot longer than if this were August.

It appears that This team is completely void of leadership !

Would anyone be shocked if this squad loses more than 90 games this year?

Are there any 2 starters in baseball worse than Senga and Peterson?

I’ve already given up on the season and it’s mid April. 🤮

1) Maybe, but I think the leadership aspect is overrated for a veteran team such as this.

2) Yeah, me.

3) Probably, but those two are definitely bottom quartile right now. The good news is that we know that Cohen will eat salary if it comes to that. Hopefully it won't.

4) I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!!!

Pretty sure it was stated that you shouldn’t worry until July 4.

Not by me. You are free to worry whenever you want.

I will say this though: I personally don't pay much attention to the standings or the scoreboard until June at the earliest. I just concern myself with my own team. Maybe I said that and was not clear.

On a related point, I recall Stearns saying last year that he intentionally refrains from evaluating his team until the end of May. He believes only then can he get an accurate read on his team's strengths and weaknesses. He wants to avoid making snap judgments based on insufficient and incomplete data. Makes sense to me

Never I thought I would ever see a Mets team worse than those Vince Coleman/ Bret Saberhagen teams. Doesn’t matter as long as Steve Cohen is doing everything possible to make money off the team, including sealing off that underbridge parking under the highway to make fans pay ridiculous prices for parking (people will say that the city did that but it happened under his watch after 60 years of parking).

Interesting that Stearns/Mendoza decided to go with a third catcher. This suggests to me that Alvarez will get some more run as a righty DH when he's not catching.
