We will be the best shooting team on the wing in the nation with her and Tessa. Don't let us get the PG we want. Dawn's '27 squad will shoot everyone out of the gym. Also, hurts our real rival in the conference, Texas. I know LSU thinks they are our rival, but you have to win a game first before being considered a rival.

Well, Big O was on that same visit with Jordan Lee. I would feel better about Big O if she cancelled that visit to Louisville, but we will see. I heard Johnson is deciding whether she stays at Virginia or picks us. We get Johnson and we will have one of the best shooting backcourts I have ever seen in WBB. We would immediately become the favorite to win the Natty.

Stays at Virginia or goes to SC? What’s to debate Kymora?

Bummer...this is about WBB, which is great for them, of course! The name is ambiguous enough and the first part of the first sentence...We will be the best shooting team on the wing in the nation...gave me hope that maybe Lamont pulled off a big get in the portal. Oh well.

Sounds like Dawn is reloading.

I speculated a while back, only partially in jest....why not give Dawn a crack at coaching the men's team? The Knicks apparently gave her a look at least. It would certainly get our men in the spotlight. She can coach fundamentals, obviously. I guess the obvious risk is the women's team slipping and us losing the one sport where we can dominate.

Talking about LSU. When Kim Mulkey took the job at LSU, she promised she would beat USC and win a SEC championship. Of course, after going 0-6 against USC to run the streak of 19 wins in a row by USC. The fans at LSU cannot stand it because we own them in women's basketball. That is a fact not an opinion. One day that streak will come to an end I just hope it is a long time coming for them. But until then with the class Dawn has coming in along with returning players Chloe Kitts, Ashlyn Watkins, Kaeli Wynn, Kelsey Andrews, now Jordan Lee from Texas, a transfer from Iowa and maybe one or two more players, maybe high school or maybe transfers. But I will say this USC will be hard to beat in 2027 probably another natty.

UVA is one of the best academic schools in the country, and where she has been for the last few years. Change can be tough and even scary.

Something else to consider, she is the best player on her team at UVA, that would not necessarily be the case at South Carolina. Anyone coming to play for Dawn is sacrificing being a star player to be a winner. But to me, winning in itself will turn you into a star.

The WNBA players getting paid more might change the calculus about where you to go school. When the max salary was like $100k, I would have said to stay at UVA and get a good degree with a much higher earning potential. But now WNBA players are getting paid on average $575k so maybe going to South Carolina and learning to play solid defense and team ball is the best path forward.

Dawn as MBB coach would certainly get South Carolina a lot of "woke" points. The challenge would be, the men's and women's games are pretty different and I'm not sure coaching alone would make the MBB team a winner. The WBB team has a certain gravity that pulls top talent, the men's team doesn't have that.

Dawn coaching the men's team would probably mean the end of WBB being elite.

I detest LSU and Mulkey but to be fair, she did win a National title for them pretty dang quickly.

Getting a third lady that can dunk couldn't hurt.

If you are talking about Addie Deal (formerly of Iowa), she committed to Wisconsin.

I am pretty certain that she would easily outperform Lamont. Dawn's name would get us in the door with higher level players immediately. Lamont hasn't proven he can recruit even on an average level. Personally, I think Lamont is a pretty good gameday coach. However, he just can't get us the athletes needed to succeed.

The 2023 LSU natty I think was more luck of the draw than Mulkey having the best team. The #1 seed in LSU's bracket got upset in the round of 32 and LSU's team was given a very easy path to the title game. Our girls got caught having a bad defensive game against Iowa. Caitlyn Clark def went off that game, but I think what really killed us in the 2023 Final Four game was allowing Iowa to get so many easy transition and back cut baskets which were uncharacteristic of Dawn's typically stingy defenses.

If we had played LSU for the title we would have beat them pretty handily. South Carolina beat the **** out of LSU in the regular season that year and I think we would def do it again. I think the only reason LSU beat Iowa so handily was that Iowa had a let down game after such an emotional win against Carolina. Another example of that would be South Carolina getting smoked by UCLA after beating UConn for the first time in a while.

Kymora's story is sort of like Joyce's. Grew up in Charlottesville, always dreamed to play for UVA, was a ball girl at their games growing up. So, the draw for her to stay there is strong. I am biased, but I think the move to us would elevate her future. If she were to win a Natty as our PG, she would definitely be a 1st round pick next year.

LOL, I think you are one of only a few that have not checked out on our Men's program. Most of us are waiting for Lamont to get fired so we can see where that program goes next.

ha, yeah, i know that's the ultimate end point, but with our alleged increased NIL commitment, i expected us to at least take some swings. i haven't heard so much of a rumor of a us being connected to a compelling transfer aside from that 7 ft guy.

She chose to stay local too.
