Shapiro going elsewhere, Hoping we land Zepeda big time. How good is Schubert, is he good enough to be our guy at 165?
As far as Schubert 165, he's a big downgrade from Caliendo (almost everyone is) and is likely battling for lower end podium but we have to live in reality, 165 is a huge hole for Iowa and Schubert would be a significant upgrade.

I think Schubert will be a low AA guy at 65 which is a huge upgrade from the current roster. If the season started today I have no clue who the starter at 65 would even be. CJ maybe but he honestly looked terrible at the SS and was clearly not near ready to be the guy.

A few close wins over top-10 types, a few close losses to top-15 types. He is unlikely to score many NCAA points, but who knows, I said the same thing about Block and Kueter 3 months ago. At minimum he could contribute much-needed dual points.

He had a solid year at 74 last year winning the cliff keen and having wins over Steed, Wask, and Gaitan. He ended up losing to Wask in the blood round which was a rematch of the cliff keen final. If he can handle the cut to 65 he will definitely be an AA but yeah he’s not a huge point scorer which I think will limit his ceiling on how high of an AA he could possibly be. Would of preferred if someone like Denny would have entered but Schubert will be tough and I hope we get him.

Missed on Joe Sealy, then until late June last year, thought Melvin Miller was coming, which would have only left a one year gap. Were probably hoping the V tech decommit could be a decent stop gap, but SS performance was ugly. Think he’s in US open. I know it’s freestyle, but hope he looks much better in case we can’t get Schubert or his price is too high.lol stop

You’re right, since the me too movement, everyone was told men are inherently evil and dishonest and women are angelic and never lie. There have been many men who spent years in prison before being released when the women gets religion and finally admits she was lying. Nothing happens to the false accusers and the guys life is still wrecked. The woman involved in the Duke case finally came out a few years ago and admitted it was BS. Too late for those guys to get their reputations back. There is enough known facts about AJ’s past to not like him about, this shouldn’t be one of them.
Honestly not a great year for the portal at 65 but Schubert is very solid. Also the more you look at 65 the more you can see the upside with him as the weight is pretty weak. Ruiz will come in ranked 2nd and I would take Ruiz in that match but I wouldn’t be shocked if Schubert could beat him either. You also have to consider if guys with RS available (blaze, Lockett) take them in order to avoid MM this year and let it clear out next year. If they decide to do that the top 5 in the preseason rankings will be something like MM, Ruiz, Hepner, Arujao, Denny? The weight isn’t very deep
