So, where is QB Jimmy Sullivan in all of this?

We do not (at least YET) have a quarterback controversy, but there has been a lot of discussion formally and informally about who is going to be our QB this fall. About all you hear about, though, is Hecklinski and Brown and that Hecklinski ostensibly has the inside track, if not the job nailed down. Of course, none of us really knows for sure.

But I have to wonder about the younger Sullivan. He was fairly highly touted a couple years ago when he signed, but I was wondering, is there much of a chance he will be the backup? I guess if the No. 1 guy gets injured, he becomes the No. 2 man,but barring injury, is he just kind of the "forgotten man"? if Bessinger is as good as advertised, I don't know where that puts Sullivan.

How is he supposedly doing? Is he gett any reps? it's kind of hard to see the 3rd guy getting actual reps in practice with the QB battle going on.

Sullivan is a redshirt frosh and Heck is a soph so they are in the same year. Brown has been around a little longer. All 3 have been in Lester's offense for at least a year so these three are ahead of the others. I hope Sullivan is damn good enough to push the other two.

Sullivan doesn't have the game experience that Heck had at Wake and Hank had at Auburn. Going into his second year I would preach patience, give him time to develop.

Sounds like he's either number 3 or 4. When Bessinger gets a little time here, I'd guess he moves to number 4 or 5. With that outlook, a transfer or position change might be a possibility.

I am hoping that JSully pushes the other two and eventually is a great Hawkeye, but given that Iowa has gone three full seasons going on a fourth of playing only transfer QBs, and looking at similar situations around the country, it looks like that the days of developing a QB through your system until he makes an impact are dying away….

Heck played 3 games at WF in 2024. He's a year ahead of Sullivan

Not for that long to be serious probably. Lots of girls on campus.....
True story. I saw Chuck Long leaning against the wall outside the Field House bar, must have been about 1984, maybe '83. Three hotties were surrounding him, one on either side and one in front.

Why would you have a girlfriend? He did though, many of us would not have.

No doubt. At that age, more fun being the BMOC....
