"Just paying someone" is the worst possible strategy. Especially with this coach, who has a definite type of player that seems to work versus not work, except for those kids that can play on most/many high major squads.

Everyone should still take a break and relax with this. Sometimes it is great to get commitments right away in this portal world, for those kids who you want to keep or who are hot commodities. But other times, first money is bad money. About 66-75% of all high major kids are in the portal or will go in the portal -- that's the statistic I saw -- which means a week from now, there will be plenty of talented players left.

Are we still involved with the guard from Weber St? I think I saw someone post schools and we were not listed

Odds are 90% of our signings won’t move the needle… it’s ok because they are dawgs
I have to agree that I don't think we are getting any "move the needle" guys...

I went to the open practice last season...joked that I truly needed a scorecard to know who the players were....well, looks like that will be an annual "introduction" practice...

Maybe it’s all a ploy by Shaheen to keep winning COY. Pretty much a guarantee we’ll be picked last or next to last in every pre season poll annually now.

Well, Sha will assumingly take them thinking they are "dawgs". We don't know if they are "dawgs" until they start playing the games. Or if he can turn them into "dawgs".

Hurley and Pitino have been conspiring to do this because they each like Sha so much. They failed the year Kadary went to SJU, but Hurley is taking a second crack at it this year with Hines.

Btw, I don't think we will be picked last because of how Sha overachieved last season. My guess is as long as the roster seems decent enough we will be picked higher than a bunch.

Just what is our roster at this point?

The much older posters on this board, like myself, might remember the phrase often used here, "things have a way of working themselves out."
Yea but that was usually in the context of a lesser player leaving to open up a scholarship for a better player.

I don't think that's what we're seeing right now.

Every player we’ve been connected to so far has been unbelievably underwhelming

What exactly did you expect? They’re not getting a 20 ppg guy from a P4 conference. I think there has actually been an uptick in quality of guys they’re going after but the reality is you’re getting solid players and hoping for a needle mover to emerge with Shu’s NIL budget.

A low major school like us is realistically looking at conferences like the MAAC, OVC, MVC for guys that put up numbers and then taking a chance on P4 kids needing a fresh start. Is what it is.

Maybe if we all lowered our expectations, to a level that is more accurately aligned to the positivity level of this website, we wouldn’t be disappointed?

They’re not even connected to double digit scoring players from mid majors
