Iowa State was the 11th ranked offense in their conference last year.

Apparently, PSU will be starting six of those guys on offense this year.

Against Big Ten defenses.

Yeah with that roster we might even lose to lowly Northwestern

Time will tell, but I would think that even with the current roster PSU is pretty much given layups in at least 8 games (truly non-competitive OOC and Big Ten opponents: Marshall/Temple/Buffalo, plus Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgres, and Maryland)

Of the remaining 4:
Considering Minnesota a threat is probably a stretch as well - especially as it is a home game for PSU.

The only three that would normally be considered competitive - USC, Michigan, Washington (given that it is a west coast road trip)?
- USC coming off of 3 straight "meh" years under Lincoln Riley (lost 15 games over the last 3 years) - and losing their star-power WRs (and Lincoln may be #1 "hot seat candidate" in Big Ten, along with Fickel and Locksley)
- Michigan coming off of a clunker year - and with huge the coaching SNAFU turmoil to end season
- Washington showing some signs of life under Fisch (15-11 last 2 years, after their one "magic" year under DeBoer), but far from a power.

Honestly, that is a schedule that "OLD CJF" (who rarely wet the bed against lesser opponents, but just could not beat top teams) would have had a good chance to go 12-0 against - because there are ZERO powerhouse teams on that schedule.

Time will tell. But that schedule is the definition of "unchallenging"
