What do we think of Landon Powell for head coach?

Allegiance to the program and some emotion behind returning it to the status he is proud of is reason enough for me to give Powell the keys.
We've tried the unattached visiting coach who has really not bought in to the culture long enough.

If Landon Powell is an up and coming star, why hasnt he gotten hired at a higher level yet? Our program should be hiring someone ready to take over a major program, not someone who will be learning on the job.

And that is the only difference between Landon and any other successful D-II coach.

There are about 300 D-1 baseball teams. I have to wonder why Landon hasn't been hired to one of those jobs.

I wonder if any D-I schools have ever reached out to Landon - even indirectly?

He's amassed a .750 win percentage at North Greenville over a long tenure there. I'm generally opposed to hiring former players out of sentimentality, but he's shown coaching chops. I'd never consider the North Greenville football head coach for head coach in the SEC, but I'm not sure that's as relevant for baseball. NGU basically had no baseball program before arrived, and he's turned them into a consistent winner.
How about him as an assistant to Mont….

As stands right now, the football equivalent of not hiring the Coastal Carolina guy would be like not hiring Curt Cignetti.

Schnall wins.

Chris Pollard

Tanner should have pursued Pollard instead of Manieri. I don't see Pollard leaving Virginia after one year. It's a solid program with good facilities and support.

We've been Virginia season ticket holders for 12 seasons and the fans have embraced Pollard.

Carla Williams proved to be a lot better than Tanner at hiring a baseball coach (and a basketball coach).

Go Gamecocks!
