Seriously. You're mad at the pope because he said war is bad? Get a grip!
Except that not what he said.

My question is what would you do if you were president? Don't say you wouldn't have exited the deal that would have expired anyway. And don't say diplomacy. Of course that would be ideal but Tump tried that before the attacks.

Would you go back to "Don't"?

The war fails to qualify as a just war

I’d probably have used my master negotiating skills, you know, the ones I constantly harped about during my three election campaigns as the Deal Maker?
Also, what does it matter if the deal was expiring? You don’t think Trump could’ve negotiated an extension of that current agreement, or perhaps even negotiated a better one?

First, it's just like a MAGAt to exclude the correct answer to try to justify their actions.

Teacher: "2+2 equals what?"
MAGAt student: "Duck sauce"
Non-MAGAt student: "You're an idiot."
MAGAt student: "Oh, then what would you have said? And don't say 4!"

That it would have expired doesn't matter in the least ... you negotiate and extend it. You make the safeguards and checks even stricter.

Second, regardless of what was the "correct" or "justifiable" action, the fact remains, Trump promised "no new wars." That was one of the pillars of MAGAtdom ... Trump was the bringer of peace. The negotiator. America first. All that bullsh!!t. When Trump handed Syria over to Russia, all the MAGAts justified it as fulfilling his promise to get out of international conflicts and focus on American governance. We shouldn't be involved over there ... that's their problem now. Blah, blah, blah. MAGAts celebrated that no wars had happened while their Fuhrer was in office, while chastising Dems for allowing wars during their administrations.

But as soon as Trump captures the Venezuelan leader, and shortly after, bombs the crap out of Iran, war is good. It's justified. It doesn't matter how bad it looks - that it looks like we didn't actually have a plan to wrap this up, that we failed to account for obvious issues like a potential kerfuffle re the Strait of Hormuz, that we went at it alone, and then tried our best to make enemies of our allies ... and so on ... war is good. Just look at those bombs bombing! Just look at those heroes saving our pilots! This is what America is all about! Celebrate good times, come on! Many MAGAts can't wait until we forcefully take over Cuba and wrestle Greenland from the hands of Denmark, by any means necessary.

We've been through this all before, however ... and it doesn't matter. A MAGAt cultist will justify anything their Fuhrer does. Today you will say this war was necessary and there was no other option. Tomorrow, if Trump got up there and said "War is never necessary and there are other options," you guys would say "War is never necessary and there are other options." And if the day after tomorrow Trump says war is necessary, you'll say war is necessary.

Trump is your new lord and savior.

Your answer to what you would do if you were president right now is that Trump sucks?

BTW, why didn't Biden Negotiate a better deal? Was that also because Trump sucks?

I have no idea what I'd do in his position, but I probably wouldn't have been duped into an "excursion" by a foreign government that all of my predecessors managed to avoid. It's also not my job to come up with these solutions, so asking any poster on here what they'd do differently is a ridiculous exercise.

Biden did try in 2022, he just failed, because of any number of reasons (old, senile, dumb, take your pick - I don't really care which you choose.) It would be nice if in one of these discussions the default response from Trumpers wasn't "WELL WHAT ABOUT BIDEN??"

To add on a little to your point, it was also more complicated than usual because of the priority of Covid early in the Biden administration, the fact that the original Iran nuclear deal was scrapped, a key leader was bombed near the end of Trump’s first term (which I don’t like or dislike, just saying it complicated the situation for a negotiation), oh and let’s not forget the war going on between Iran and its proxies with Israel.

To be clear it’s already a fallacious argument to bring up Biden, but since that’s the crutch I’m seeing a lot of right now let’s just go ahead and put all the context on the table. Foreign policy doesn’t happen in a vacuum, something Trump clearly doesn’t understand or appreciate.

He couldn't create a turd without 15 people helping him. He still posted that on his own accounts truth social. I'm not watching some video trying to make excuses for that. I have standards and a moral compass. You must be one of those other folks that don't have that.
lol at standards and moral compass....What is a woman?
