Then you probably need to go watch both play some games instead of just highlights! No offense, just saying. I agree though that he’s a really good player and I’d love to have him. I don’t think it should be one or the other and both would be great to me.
My concern with Freeman is his lingering foot injury.

What’s the story on Graves? I think he has a no contact tag. Is he only focusing on the draft? He’s the PF I think would be the best fit.

He’s descent. Wouldn’t say he will be a Pope type that will stretch the floor though. Maybe a bit.
Carr shot 32% from 3 ( on 2 attempts/ game)in his 1 season at UK--as a 5th year senior.

Rancik is shooting 33% from 3 on nearly 4 attempts per game.

Get him in a better offense with better looks. I think Rancik can be a big time stretch 4 in the Pope offense. I assume we're looking at him to be the backup to Freeman if everything works out.

Hawthorne will be better than most Freshmen in SEC . HE WAS A TOP 40 recruit in 2025 class. Definitely an allSEC Freshman team talent.
Hawthorne was a year away from being a year away last year. Talented kid but still has to get stronger. Will play freshmen like minutes this year.

Rancik is a super intriguing prospect who I could see starting at the 3 honestly or backing up Stokes if he comes. He has guard skills at 6'11. He pops on tape. Has to definitely put on muscle for SEC play.

Played with 7 ft Center & star guard Johnson on a mid level Big 12 team.Big 12 was very tough this year.
HawThorne will play 20+ minutes a game this year - Remember Pope rewards loyalty with playing time.

unbelievable that a program like Kentucky is rummaging through midway or lower of recruiting barrels hoping something is there. How in the world could UK; with its resources and brand, have any trouble landing just ONE top 10/15 transfer or recruit is mind boggling. It’s one of the most incredible things I’ve ever witnessed at UK in 40 years. Never have we seen something like this.

2005-2009 wasn't that long ago. We saw it back then. Markinyo Williams, Sheray Thomas. Conner Tucker, Vinnie Zollo. This isn't unprecedented.

Other than the Cal years, we have never gone out and picked anyone we wanted

I strongly disagree. Aside from like 89-92, our rosters were loaded with highly ranked guys throughout the 80s & 90s. I’ve been watching since 78 & we’ve always had elite rosters with the exception of a few years in the Tubby era, but, that’s only bc he despised AAU & didn’t want to recruit. If he had put in the work there never would’ve been lineups featuring Bobby Perry, Sheray Thomas & the like. And, BG’s two years were pretty rough. But, outside of a handful of seasons we’ve been stacked with elite talent throughout the 48 years I’ve been a fan.

So is 12 pts, 6 boards, 40%FG, 33%3pt and .5 blocks a game really a bigtime PF we needed?

At least he can shoot FT’s it seems like his 3% could rise based on that at least.

Not even one, and with millions to entice. Its a major problem, and one that might be with us a while.
