N'Diaye and McBride fill out the 4 spot. Dare we say it's an upgrade over Mo and Jelly? Mo was solid in what he did, but not a great fit for Pope's offense. Jelly underachieved.

Wilkins gives us a nice CG to play PG as well, and not put too much pressure on FR Williams!

G - Zoom, Williams, Z. Hawthorne
G - Wilkins, ?
F - Kam, B. Hawthorne, Noah
F - N'Diaye, McBride
C - Moreno, ?, Potter

❌❌Freeman and Rancik would look good at the 4 to compliment Moreno.

❓I can't imagine Potter will be the backup C with little depth. Definitely need a Reibe there.

✅ Mo Williams didn't agree to come here without son being given a fair shake. Will Pope trust him in that role? Regardless, there will be another guard trusted to handle the ball better than Jasper could as a backup!

✅❓We need a stud 2G starter and a elite shooter to back him up.

❌❌ If somehow Stokes comes, that would have to move Kam as a 6th man role. Would Stokes play the point forward as a 4 man if Freeman doesn't come?

Hawthorne has a chance to be good; he's at least as talented as Kam.
Stokes could play the point on offense as a 3 or 4 but Freeman may come.
Potter probably won't play much but he is better than a walk on type player. He doesn't have as much talent as BG but, if he plays, will almost certainly give us as much or more than BG did, more for sure on offense.

Sure would be nice to have a 2G going into his junior year with 2 years experience in Pope’s system, a 40 inch vertical, and the ability to make critical 3’s when needed. Oh wait…

It would be nice if Pope can get a PF that can also play backup 5. That way we can just do a 3 man rotation, with Potter being the 4th big. I think since Potter has an outside game, he could also play some PF on offense if needed also. We have too many other needs than getting a pure backup 5, that would be low on my list of priorities. Need that money for other spots.

Disagree. He will get better and stronger this off-season. He got fatigued last year.
I don’t get fans who want to compare Moreno to a handful of upperclassmen Centers from last season. There is a huge difference between an upperclassman and a freshman. Moreno was only a freshman last year, but he was good one. Not that it’s relevant to how good we should have expected him to be his first year, but Moreno was also a McDonald’s AA and the top ranked Center in recruiting rankings coming out of high school. But what is relevant is that he was not expected to have to start and yet he ended up being an All-SEC freshman Center. Every program would have wanted him if he had entered the Portal – where he would have been one of the top Centers in the Portal - and all but a few would have went after him hard to be their starting Center.

If Moreno makes just a modest jump in his sophomore year then he’s likely All-SEC and – again not relevant, but – a potential 1st round draft pick. I’d like to get a bruiser to back up Moreno, but given the players available I’m more than fine going into next season with him as the starting Center. I think we need to focus where the real need is - the 2G & PF spots now.

You pumpers have your fun now, when Bidunga is getting 20 and 20 on us you'll see.
Shouldn’t you also be having fun signing a top five pg and returning a McDonald’s AA center. Please tell me I’m misunderstanding…are you implying that your fun is delayed until your own team is getting dominated by your rival’s center? Cmon man, have you no joy at all? What are you getting out of this type of fandom? This is the off-season…we haven’t lost a game yet. You don’t want to enjoy even one brief moment of relief or happiness?

I think we pick up a CG and a pure SG. Kam and Hawthorne fill in at SG if needed. We probably pick up two PFs too. One can fill at C as needed. Kam can play some at the 4 as well.

So, think we're looking at 4 more commits if all goes well.

Yay, go team, 40-0 with sloppy seconds. If Poop can't do it, noone can.
Goodness, 20M. Take a moment to be happy for a sec. You can go back to hating Pope later. Surely, your love for the Cats should be stronger than your frustrations with the coach.

You are misunderstanding, yes. I'm saying those excited about Moreno as our starter and thinking that translates to an elite team are wrong. As for Diallo, I've never seen him play so I have no thoughts. He could be SGA for all I know, I hope he is. I watched every minute Moreno played and he is not what I'm looking for.

Ok fair. I think we are fortunate to have MM. He compares very favorably to FB if you look at their potential trajectories. Moreno just as good as a freshman as Bidunga was.

I really just don't care about statistical trajectories, I'm looking at traits. Moreno is tall and can score with a guy on his back if he has good position, that's about it as far as I saw. He's a disaster defensively and effort wise. You can call it "tired", we all loved that excuse from Pope during the season.

His post defense was elite last season. His perimeter defense was bad. He was a good shot blocker, has good vision, pretty good passer, and developed a pretty dependable short hook by the end of the year. Let’s see how it shakes out. Most teams in the country would love to have MM.

Ok well when Moreno becomes the best passer in the world while being able to put up 30 any time he wants, you let me know.

Just rewatch the Iowa St game, Moreno was a disaster, worse than Garrison.
Watch the first Florida game where he was absolutely holding his own until a few bogus fouls got called

Yeah, you moron. Think anybody disagrees with you don't hate the program our bumpers for Pope.. I think he's out of his league and probably not the right coach for us, but he is our coach this year. I'll support him like I have every other coach we've had while there are coach.

If Diallo plays more than 5 games this season Moreno will have a fantastic year and that's with Diallo not even being that great of a distributor.

UK had 2.5 offensive players worth a **** last season and none of them would ever be accused of being better than a marginal distributor. UK had also had, and I love the effort the guy gives, but UK had Mo freaking Dioubate at the 4. His offensive game is putrid. He's an undersized effort putback guy with below average offensive ability. Jelabrick was mostly terrible. BG, good riddance. Highly inconsistent player.

Moreno had virtually zero help in the paint last season and his guards racked up their assists simply because the 3 that played the most couldn't shoot every single shot. Little was done to even really try to actually go through the post last season. Kudos to Aberdeen for giving his all at PG, but he's simply not one.

I think Hawthorne can play some 4 also. I agree with a CG, although I think Williams will be main backup PG. Having a CG gives some extra backup at PG when/if needed. I also wouldn't mind getting Perry back as an 11th type guy on the bench. He can play both guard spots, and we could use his shooting to spread the court.

Your "support" on this website means nothing to the program, as does what you perceive as my lack of support. You are not special or virtuous for pretending that all is well, the program is in a tailspin. I offered my opinion of one player on the roster who I spent hours watching. I also watched what the bigs on elite teams looked like, and I don't see it with MM. That's it, it's not that deep.

You can’t imagine?.?? Potter is better than you think.
All you EXPERTS want guys that have been starters elsewhere to come off the bench at Ky.
Kam can play the 2 & Hawthorne will start at 3.
Stokes wants to be a point forward so he gets the 2 & Kam goes to 3 .
