So as of now:

Chit Chat
Carnegie
Stremlow
Whiting
MW
Journey
Hayes
Ava

Assume 2 more signings?
Really? Do people think they're going to go into the season with a 10 player roster? I know we had two non players last year in Jada and KJ but I'd think you have to have 11-12 players anyway, or you'd better hope no one gets injured or sick for awhile. I realize they have the guy managers, (gray squad or whatever they call them), to practice against, but you'd be playing with fire having that short a roster. Its not the pro's where you can add players on a 7 day contract.

Yep. 2 more signings soon to be part of the regular rotation, and then pick up a couple lower cost players later in the cycle. Those last ones probably won't be until May, when the pendulum has shifted and the school has the upper hand in terms of negotiations. Heck, maybe Kennise doesn't find anyone to take her with her limited tape and she ultimately comes back. That wouldn't be a bad deal for Iowa; we'd get someone with several years in the system who can help bring the newcomers up to speed.

Hopefully a couple diamond in the rough underclassmen that can develop into solid contributors by their senior season.

No doubt this is where it gets hard. Filling those last 4 spots. Trying to get someone who brings value to the roster, who probably knows up front they aren't going to play much. I still think this is part of the problem going after so many top 20 players in the last recruiting cycle. It would have been nice to bring in a couple more high schoolers who might give you a year or two of developing before they hit the portal. By then you know if they add anything of significance to the group.

Got to leave room for Teagan and Addie to come back after they discover there's nothing better out there.😉
Teagan, maybe. Jan would probably not bring Deal back given the way it went and some of the staffs comments that is was a load off trying to keep her agent and parents happy. Basically they were fine with her leaving.

They’re gonna need 4 more.
I am confident that they know this ^^ and are busily working that direction. But what is happening now is the most primary needs are being addressed first AND the bigger $$ outlays are being established. I know that there are players "in the wings" that would love to come here, but may go somewhere else due to more $$'s available elsewhere. (Keep in mind that ISU, to name just one team not very far away, is essentially trying to rebuild an entire roster.)

I think we will likely see 1 or 2 more pretty good quality players added yet and then honestly the last 1, 2 or 3 will likely be from the "bargain bin" to get up to 12'ish. Things are happening, but exactly what happens is yet to be seen. :)

Has Iowa typically had an 11-12 player roster?

Oklahoma WBB killing it in this year's portal.
Well Iowa snagged a first team All SEC player in Carnegie which is incredible. Every team would want her.

And for people who care about high school recruiting ratings which we should know better after Addie, Amari Whiting was the #33 player in ESPN rankings for her class. She had offers from Washington, Oregon, UCLA, Utah,USC, etc and chose Oregon as her commit.

After her mom, an an Idaho high school women's coach bizarrely got hired as the BYU coach, She changed her commitment to Byu and played there until her mom got fired after her sophomore year. She had a very good year this year starting every game at Oklahoma State.

She chose Iowa right now over a buch of other schools in Texas and California.

With people talking about roster size including past rosters, I decided to take the radical step of looking at the recent history. I used the actual Iowa WBB stats pages, which went back 14 years. After I listed roster numbers, I tried to remember the people on each team, so I returned and listed the leading scorer and her ppg. Note: Ava Jones was not including as a roster player in any years, nor were other red-shirted players like Kate Martin in 2018-19.

The range is 11-14.
The mean (average) is ~12.71.
The median (middle) is 13.
The mode (most frequent) is 13.

2025-26: 14 (Heiden, 18.0)
2024-25: 13 (Olson, 17.9)
2023-24: 13 (Clark, 31.6)
2022-23: 14 (Clark, 27.8)
2021-22: 11 (Clark, 27.0)
2020-21: 13 (Clark, 26.6)
2019-20: 13 (Doyle, 18.1)
2018-19: 12 (Gustafson, 27.8)
2017-18: 11 (Gustafson, 25.7)
2016-17: 13 (Gustafson, 18.5)
2015-16: 14 (Disterhoft, 17.1)
2014-15: 14 (Dixon/Disterhoft 14.8)
2013-14: 11 (Doolittle, 14.2)
2012-13: 12 (Morgan Johnson, 14.4)

You are one of the few who understands there is a chance you could be wrong...so I wouldn't feel too at home. It's a rare trait around these parts. ;)

Tilda Trygger, a 6"6" forward from Sweden who played at N.C. State is still available. She averaged 10.6 ppg and 7 rpg.

Hard to believe she'd want to come play backup to Ava if she was a double digit scorer in the ACC. I think she would have better opportunities for playing time.

How many players were on last years team? Try counting......Try again. My point was 11 would be a low number. Right now were at 8.....
You seem triggered.
????? How many were on last years team? Here's a hint. You'll need to take your shoes off to count them all, and you still won't get there.....
lol im thinking last 5-6 years but thanks for that non-answer. It’s okay if they only have 10 players. They won’t self-destruct.

Dude they have the option of 15 and were at EIGHT. We had 14 last year. Suppose someone gets injured again. (Happens almost EVERY year). But lets run with 10? They've NEVER had just 10 players......

Why would I be triggered. Its just crazy that people say they follow the team enough to care, and have NO idea how many players are even on the team.

lol. I’m thinking over the years Iowas roster has oscillated with number of players…legit players who can play. It wasn’t a trick question.

They can sign a couple of rec players to get to their max. But let’s see if JJ signs 4 more players.

If you want to frame it with actual players and eliminate the Jada's and KJ's then say that. Still they were on scholarship and practiced. Again if we went with 10 what happens when the flue hits and we have the yearly ACL tear? Maybe we can put a wig on one of the managers?

Okay, my bad for participating. Your obviously just here to troll and make stupid comments. You couldn't afford me......
I definitely know that’s not true. I’ll even add a nice bottle of wine. Like a good bottle.

Once you’re triggered on a message board you’ve outed yourself.

But thanks for the useless info.
